Garmin WebUpdater and Help

Hi All
This is my first post to the forum. I come all the way from N Ireland and hope someone can help me ASAP please. When I use the Webupdater it says there is a problem with this application and gives the following error message:

App: WebUpdater
At: 9/14/2007 8.34.26 AM (UTC)
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel Processor Level: 15, RAM, 1048048
APPLICATION.CPP-183.2.4.1.0
Exception: 0xC0150010 at program address 0x7C943345

I have tried contacting Garmin but so far no success and I'm told it could be up to five weeks before I get a reply which is totally unsatisfactory. Hence the reason for looking for help from this forum.
As a relatively new comer to the world of GPS and still trying to learn the secrets of my unit I was wondering if anyone has come across good articles, helpful resources etc which I could draw on.
Thanks for your help in anticipation.

Regards,
Gerald

Email Gramin

Garmin's technical sipport is the best in the business. They usually respond in hours, or in a day, not weeks. Send them an email with the error information included in your post. Did you register your GPSr? If so, go to myGarmin.com and contact them through the website. If you didn't register your unit, you'll need to send them an email through one of the addresses listed on their site (I think it's support@garmin.com). Tech support will turn your issue over to their software engineers and get you an answer.

Garmin 765T...Is it about the destination, or is it about the journey?

Web Updater

Until Garmin replies to you... If you have access to another PC or laptop try installing and running web update from there. At a minimum, that will help define what the issue is and maybe help support resolve the issue faster by comparing the versions and patch levels of the different systems.

Please also ensure your PC has all the latest OS updates. MS releases them every second Tuesday of the month. The basic support question is 'are you current?' If not, they generally ask that you get current, try it again, then call back if you still have issues.

Download web update again. Make sure it is not a corrupt file. Small chance but you never know.

Hope this helps,
JEOII

Ditch Webupdater...for now

You don't actually need to use Webupdater.

Find your product from the list and download the update.

unit software updates

Make sure you read the instructions, print them out if need be.

As far as Webupdater, make sure it's completely removed from your computer, and before trying to install again, try turning extra programs etc off, screen saver, virus protection etc.

But again, you really don't need Webupdater to update your unit.

Hope this helps.
