So GE for W7-64

There was a post here indicating a certain GE version was last for W7-64...

I'm on W7-64 (Must stay there due to software running on this system is not update-able...)

I stopped updating GE at 7.17.3.0 and it still works.. Shows a TZ map update is available, and did update last maps fine on 2x 2689LMT's

If I launch it, GE informs that 7.18.4.0 is available.... Based on that prior post, have not updated GE...

Hoping not to encounter a situation where GE won't correctly run on W7-64 I ask.... Is there a version that Those of us limited to W7-64 must stay at? If so... Which Version?

It is not clear if GE knows what version OS it's running on... Can Someone confirm if GE will know and not report an update is available on older system, Automatically? Or, will it try and update, then not run correctly as I surmise???

Thanks...

Latest worked for me

A couple of weeks ago I connected my DS 65 to my Windows 7 Pro desktop and was informed there were new updates. But, it offered to upgrade GE first.. and did. So I currently have version 7.18.40 and when I click the check for update -> informs me I am up to date.

It should be noted

…that in the computer world a statement like “Garmin Express No Longer Supports Windows OS versions 8 and Older” doesn’t necessarily mean that something won’t work, it simply means if it doesn’t they won’t help you debug the problem. So unless there is a real compelling reason to do an upgrade, approach that decision with some care.

Save the version

If you download and save the installer for a version that does work, you can always uninstall a version that doesn't work and reinstall the one that does.

Installer locations

I believe the installers are saved at C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Application. My uncertainty is because I blow them away after a few days.

I'm at 7.17.3 and apparently

I'm at 7.17.3 and apparently fine, but, Even Garmin mentioned they have removed that 7.17.3 link in the link you posted and replaced it with 7.18.3... But that link now Error's with a 404 error from it!!!
HOW CONFIDENCE INSPIRING!!!

OK, I'm good at 7.17.3

Will ignore the nags....
