For those that want/need the Garmin Large JCV file.

There are two files: D9673030A.JCV (749.7 MB) & D9674030A.JCV (77.7 MB)

Thank you so much mcginkleschmidt

For always uploading the large JCV files for us guys who still need it.

Size

Like always the file size is double of what Garmin loaded onto my DriveSmart 65's. I loaded the large files the last time but i'm not sure the size changed, certainly not full screen.

The advantage of the large

The advantage of the large JCV file is the full photoreal screen that pops up for a short time. I'm not familiar with DriveSmart 65 but if a split screen shows up after adding the large JCV file, it probably defeats the purpose of the fullscreen large JCV image file.

Large JCV file

Thank you very much for the info !

This File Is Not For You Speed.

As someone familiar with the DS65, what mcginkleschmidt says is essentially correct. It is not possible to change the way junction view displays on the DS65 simply by changing the junction view file. How the junction view file displays is dependent upon the firmware. Also keep in mind Garmin has not had full-screen junction view as an option for many years now.

Old Garmin devices like my 1300LM derive the maximum benefit from this file. For those that do not remember, Garmin used to offer the large junction view files on their site for end users that wanted them. The junction view file downloaded to the 1300LM on every map update is roughly 1/30th the size of the full complement of views. I have no hard evidence, but I can speculate that Garmin made this change because the storage on these units was far too small for the full map update and the junction view file. [EDIT: See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/45292 for more details.]

The DS65 uses split-screen junction view as well as active lane guidance. Installing the full-screen junction view file may disable active lane guidance as that feature on the DriveSmart series is part of the junction view file. Even if active lane guidance isn't disabled by doing this, installing this pair of files onto a DriveSmart only wastes space as the device cannot effectively use the file.

Your nuvi 1490T is unable to display split-screen JVs.

The two files you mention are not the Large JCV file for the current map and I wonder which map version's JCV files these are?

To the best of my knowledge, the only JCV files available now online are full-screen files for the current 2024.20 City Navigator North America map. Files for split-screen JVs and full-screen JVs for older map versions are not offered.

Most of this FAQ will not apply to your question, but if you haven't read it before, it explains how and why the Large JCV (full-screen) files can be found for the most recent map update due to helpful users here that offer it.

From the FAQ:

The Large JCV file is not compatible with the Essential Series nuvis (3x, 4x, and 5x) and the Drive 51 and 61 (and I expect, the earlier Drive 50 and 60) which are entry-level devices according to Garmin and cannot display photorealistic Junction Views.

When updating your nuvi 50 map with Garmin Express, you will receive the appropriate junction view file as part of the update. How are you updating the nuvi?

Large JCV Files for 2024.20

THANK YOU !

For some reason, I have on my 3590, 2 JCV files that I think may be the small files.

D9675050A.JCV (450.4 MB)
D9676050A.JCV )(46.5 MB)

Are these the two original (smaller) JCV files for 2024.20 ?

So if I overwrite them with the Large files, I should be good to go ?

Thanks.

Not likely

Those are the split screen junction view files. They should have the same number of views as the large files, but formatted to fit your device. Replacing them with the large files I don't think will work with your unit.

There is no harm in trying however. Just back up the originals first.

Large JCV Files for 2024.20

I replaced those smaller files with the larger files, and everything seems to be working OK.

I have used the GPS a couple of times to go somewhere and the split screen comes up and displaye fine.

I have a 3590.

Thank You.

I have a 3550 and never

I have a 3550 and never thought it would work, so I didn't try it. But after having used my DriveSmart 65 I now understand why full-screen junction views stopped being a thing. On a 4.3" or 5" screen the full screen image makes it easier to see, but at a price. Not only do you lose sight of the map, you can't do gimmicky but useful things like Active Lane Guidance.

Off topic, but it's a pity my nuvi 65LM can't accept photoreal junction view files. It would have made that unit a bit better.
