Map Update

I just did a map update and notice that I have two updates on my Garmin 2797.
One says CN North America NT 2024.10 All Canada & Mexico and the other says 2024.10 All US
they both have checks in there box. Do I need both ?

NUVI 2595 & 2599

Where is the map?

Nuvi 2597LMT

I have a 16G microSD card installed. Garmin Express updated the firmware and installed 2024.10. All works fine.

Except: I used to be able to see the gmapxxxx.img files by looking in the .System folder. Now the basemap and time zone img files are there but not the maps themselves. Looking on the SD card I see the nearly 4G img file which I believe is the US ALL map. No idea where the other maps are hiding.

Any suggestions?

BTW, if I remove the SD card, the Nuvi thinks there are NO maps installed. When the SD card is installed there are several additional maps available. Odd.

Thanks!

Better late than Never...

Have a Nuvi 2455LMT and 2555LMT. Installed new 32GB microSDHC memory cards in each unit. Didn't need them for the map update but knew memory was getting low from last time. Updated GE and then installed 2024.10. All works fine and it looks like the update uses a little less internal memory.

Let the travel begin!

Answer is in the question

If you have all of North America for your device you should have two files as North America has exceeded 4GB in size. Both should be located on the MicroSD as your internal storage, at least to Garmin Express, is too small to accommodate the maps.

The behavior you see when removing the card from your device is expected, as Garmin Express warns you not to remove the card.

Adding to that

If one part of the map is on the card the other should be in the .system folder but it may be called something other than gmapprom.img, although if your device is showing no maps without the sd card then that may not be true in your case.

Sometimes too you may find maps in a folder named Map.

new map

just updated

Fewer POI than previous version

Just asking if you feel new map always having fewer POI than previous version.
Many restaurants and stores opened likely 10 years ago, but cannot find on the new map, but I can find them on the map with version last decade ago.

such as on 86 model vs 1490 model super old but the POI on 1490 with last decade map can find many stores without issues

Thanks
