Drive 5 Map update; Is it worth it?

Last fall, I purchased a used Nuvi 2597LMT ($30), updated the maps etc for free. After using it on our last trip; I concluded it's - physically - worn out. You have to really push hard to get the touch screen to work. It's well used and going to be relegated to back up duties.
The purpose of the Garmin is for Maps/navigation only. No need for a smart Garmin. We live/travel in the western states/provinces. Retired, travelling +15k miles/year.
I've successfully loaded - free - OSM maps; but do not like the search - address - lag when using them.
That said; We have a old Drive 5 without lifetime map updates. The last - single - map update I purchased was 3-4 years ago. Is it worth it to pay $50 (single) or $100 (Lifetime) for Garmin map updates; Or, just buy a new Drive 52 (w/o traffic) for $100; Or, just go with what I got, older maps; What would you do?
I got a drive smart 61 for
I got a drive smart 61 for sale, includes cig adapter, mount adapter, and unused suction mount.
I'd like to net $100 after shipping/fees.
It includes lifetime maps (already updated it to 2/2022 maps).
The screen is spotless with not a scratch on it. Device was used occasionally. I'd continue using it, but it's too big for my current car and I have too many gps's as it is.
Interest?
Thanks for the offer. Not
Thanks for the offer. Not really looking for another used GPS. At this time I'd prefer to buy new and rip the clear plastic off a brand new screen.
Describe your screen
I don't have a 2597 but I'm wondering what type screen it has. Is it the type of screen that looks like glass or is it a matte finish?
I'm a bit surprised you are having issues...any chance some prior to your applied some sort of protective film?

It's smooth like glass.
It's smooth like glass. Looks the same as the Drive 5 screen which is a few years newer. The Drive 5 screen is quicker with lighter presure.
Maybe worth a try…
That type of screen doesn't need a "push". A tap is sufficient.
Cleaning may be all that is needed. Garmin recommends cleaning the screen with a microfiber cloth coupled with a very small amount of 70% alcohol. Then I would try a screen recalibration using the procedure at https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=97tIi4XUPZ9raYujEkpfM8.

Might also need a screen calibration

I would spring for a new or used one with Lifetime maps
I wouldn't discount used or refurbs outright either. Figure out what options you want and see what units (new/used) fill the bill. I purchased my Dezl 770 used 3-4 years ago and it going strong. Saved 50% off new price at the time. Most units today will have lifetime maps so as long as you buy from a reputable seller and can attach it to your Garmin account for the free map updates you are good to go.
Thank you all for the very
Thank you all for the very informative replys.
Oops missed that part.
