paper mill in Spring Grove, PA.

Of all the stinky places in the US (besides Washington, DC, which has already been noted), I'm surprised Love Canal hasn't yet been mentioned

In Greenville, SC, off of Mauldin Rd. When the wind is kickin' so is the smell. Funniest thing is there is a prett nice nieghborhood close by with million plus homes...that'll ruin a tea party!

That sounds like Richmond, VA. One side of Broad St is total ghetto, while the other side has million dollar homes (and alarms)

We went through there not too long ago and the new downtown is nicer than Paris (fewer dogs) and the park behind the Governor's School is spectacular. Maybe they're pumping the smell just to keep people from moving in and ruining the place:)

i ran across this file while browsing what a hoot. growing up in the mountains of nc we had pig farms in evert other little town and dairy farms are the worst. paper mills all around.dont know if it is still in business

The "Aroma of Tacoma" CSV text is below. This odor emanates from the Kraft Paper Mill in Tacoma Washington - about 30 miles south of Seattle. Although the odor level has decreased quite a bit - the odor is still there on some days. The odor hits you on southbound I-5 right around the Puyallup River Bridge; an excellent corridor for the thermal winds to flow south from the mill to the freeway. It's a full out assault on the nostrils sometimes! Thankfully I only have to endure it when visiting my dad - and only when the conditions were right.

The northeast corner of 99th Ave and McDowell Rd (just behind the car wash) processes some kind of bio waste (I suspect rent-a-potty sludge) that frequently smells like chemicals and... crap. Specially at night. o-O

There's a sewage treatment plant at the base of I-405 near Tukwila. On summer days the heat, plus the south wind - yeeeeow!! Roll up the windows, put the AC on recirculate

Cute idea. I'll have to check if the Staten Island (NY) garbage dump is included. If not I'll add it in. It stinks for miles around there.

If you've ever seen the episode of Dirtiest Jobs at the pig farm here in Vegas, this is it. It is one of the worst smelling places I have ever been past, and I grew up in rural Ohio with pig farms all over. They never bother me, except for this one. It's down right awful.

Yeah - I *live* about 5 miles from the paper mill that causes the stench. BLECCH!

They closed the dump b/c smell was so bad, that and methane levels are off the chart!!

How did I miss this file! I know every stinky spot between Cape Canaveral and Dolphin Stadium. I will add them after Shuttle launch and vacation (if they aren't posted already).

no offense to yall, but im from the country, and i go to school in the city. I kinda miss the smell of cow poop when im at school.

Sounds like we's got us a volunteer to jump in the old pick'em up and see if'n these here coordinates is cyphered correctly.

On this part of I-285 southeast of Atlanta, you pass right between two big ol' stinky landfills (Live Oak and Hickory Ridge) Roll up those windows!

There is really bad stretch of I-95 In Georgia, It's called the king swamp. It goes for about 6 miles of intestate and smells like a bad diaper. I will pin point it for ya'll

That would probably be a peat bog fire...there have been several in Georgia - I went by one once in S. Ga. on I-75...smoke was like a thick fog, and it smelled like burning hair inside an old sweat-sock. Worst odor I've ever experienced in my life.

the great dismal swamp in south eastern virginia really stinks to go through. I dont know the gps coordinates for it, bc its been a while since the last time i went through there.

Ok folks don't bother rolling up your windows or turning off the AC, This stench will penetrate the glass. The worst smell in the world is a swamp, Very close to rotting meat.

This landfill is a bioreactor type that intentionally releases a lot of gases to speed up the breakdown of the waste. You can tell from the smell that it must be working.

The smell is worst in the summer, so the new housing developments nearby are working hard to fill the homes before the end of the winter. Isn't capitalism grand?

i will agree king george has a nasty landfill i have been through there, and so does covington, very fowl odor.

Hmm, I may have to do with this one what I did with the ham repeaters. With the repeaters, I broke the files into different bands. For the stinky sites, I could break them into different aromas, so people could download only the aromas which are most offensive to them, thus saving space for those of us with limited memory space. Just kidding.
