Garmin Express Will not Open in Widows

Just got a new HP laptop with win 10. Down loaded Garmin Express and it will not open. Tried uninstall, restart, reinstall several times and nothing seems to work.

Anyone else has this problem?

Could we get a recap?

I don't touch anything about security control and don't know how to do it when I install GE.

I have gotten lost as to what you have tried from all the suggestions that have been given you.

You say that Task Manger can see background processes for Express but you can not see an Express window. I also think you said "no icon at all" and I assume you were talking about your task bar. What about in the programs running (the up carat) over on the "notifications" section of the task bar? The GE icon is a blue globe in a yellow teardrop.

You have followed the procedure for complete uninstall, purge, restart, new download, etc and nothing was different.

I think you have downloaded and run the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool from:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=301...

Garmin offers this advice from the Support center
https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?contactOverride=true&faq=9...

Click on the blue arrows to open up the detailed instructions.

I found someone who had success with Step 6 and then Step 4.
see
https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software...

I see there is a new version of GE 7.4.2.0.

I would try that but what I really, really hope you will do first is to download and install the portable version of Reve Uninstaller from:
https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?q=revo&m=

Before you download, make a new directory on your C: drive and call it PortableApps. Then navigate to that directory and make a subdirectiory called Revo.

I assume your computer is 64 bit

Download the portable app to the Revo subdirectory. You will be downloading a zip file which you should unzip into the Revo directory itself (and once the unzipped files are there, you can delete the zip file).

Portable apps make NO changes to your computer. I have tons of portable apps on my various computers as well as us using them on the 4 computers we have for our church's TV ministry. As a side note, we upload our closed captioned edited program to the ABC local station and their program manager suggested several "portable" programs that were easier to use than various paid software programs

I have a Revo icon on my desttop which I invoke after every time I notice that my computer has been rebooted (I never turn it off and have it on an uninterruptable power supply - UPS). What I check for is to see what, if anything, new has been installed. It is very handy for that.

One of the reasons I am raving on about Revo is that is is very good about getting rid of the excess registry entries and files that the typical uninstaller leaves behind. So - run it in "advanced" mode when you get there.

If you have looked at the Garmin instructions referenced above, you will see that they wanted you to remove "configuration" files. REVO WOULD DO THIS IN "advanced" MODE.

Please try it.

Hardware specs

One thing I noticed about your hardware specs (“Processor AMD A6-5400K APU”) is that particular processor is a desktop processor that dates from 2012. Since the computer has Windows 10 Home and the processor dates from 2012 the OS has likely been updated. Do you know what OS originally came on the machine?

By the way, this points out the danger of highjacking a thread. I’m not sure at the moment if the processor makes a difference, but as you can see from some responses many people thought you were using an HP Laptop.

Try 7.5.0

I can install GE 7.3.1.0 and see the program in computer's memory through my task manager but it doesn't launch.
My window 10 is new (20H2 version updated)and MS .Net framework version is 4.8(the newest version)
I uninstalled and reinstalled many times and did with old version but the result is the same. Installation success message shows but can't launch.
So I guess new window 10 update may made this failure.
I'm gonna check with not-updated PC.

Garmin Express Release Note v7.5.0

PC:

Fixed a crash that would occur if a user tried to renew a Cyclops subscription.

Fixed some incorrect translations.

Fixed an issue with Garmin Express failing to launch for some users.

Minor bug fixes and improvements.

oh, really

oh, really

I did it

after many hours lost searching for a solution and having tried every possible solution I decided to try to upgrade to windows 11.

this eventually worked !!

garmin express for the first time on my PC could open !

I did an upgrade keeping all my programs and settings.
It went very smooth and quick, around 60 minutes.

I had to do some trick as my PC did not have TPM 2.0 and an
approved CPU.
Installed the brand new Win 11 22h2

Insert A Quarter

I was going to suggest that you insert a quarter in the coin slot as in the old days to get 'er going. grin But you seemed to have worked out the problem..
