Cancer treatment for husband

Just returned from 2 weeks in Houston for cancer treatment for my husband. Drove home just ahead of Hurricane Laura.
This is the first time we have been unisolated since March. Thank goodness everyone was wearing mask. It went well.
The only problem, we didn't know where to stay and the place we picked had a lot of parking lot activity after midnight a couple of nights then they had a security guard cruise the lot for the rest of the time.
We were able to stay on the bottom floor with a room next to an entry door so we never had to walk down any halls.
Driving around close to his treatment facility we found a better place to stay for his nest trip.
Hopefully this treatment will help him. It looks promising.

DriveSmart to Chino Hills

Pointer.SD wrote:

After many years of good service, my Nuvi 765T bit the dust - irreparable cracked screen, though for no obvious cause like an impact of some kind - just noticed erratic inputs and then found the crack on closer inspection. So found a great deal on a new Garmin DriveSmart 55. Working with it now, customizing and seeing if I can use my POI factory collection of POI files with it. Plan to use it later this month on a short road trip for a conference about an hour and a half north. So far I like it!

So first break-in trip with the new DriveSmart 55 last weekend, up the I-15 to Chino Hills with a slight detour farther north just past the I-10 intersection to the Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga on the way back. I'm actually impressed with all that the 55 can do compared to my old 765T, even though it does not have a few things I miss, like the ability with FM transmitter to play music or audio book mp3s, and no security code/location to prevent someone else from using it, or finding their way [to my] home if it happens to fall into someone else's hands (not paranoia - that did happen with a previous unit when my car got broken into). Nevertheless, especially by bluetooth pairing with the Garmin Drive app on my iPhone, having instant real time traffic, weather, and even live traffic cam views is really nice. Updating system and maps via direct wifi connection is also very nice. Best of all, all of my POI factory files also work flawlessly, especially with a shortcut function which allows me to get to Custom POIs directly, with one tap, from the Where To? screen. I did have to find or make replacement icon and sound files since this unit needs the larger 48x48 icons and wav files instead of mp3's. But that minor hassle was well worth it when I was able to see them so clearly on the screen while driving - helped me to be more aware of things/places I actually look for while driving. One drawback is that there does not seem to be a way to find custom POIs with voice commands, which works well for everything else. Even so, will be staying active with POI Factory for quite some time to come. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this effort - what a great cyber community!
