Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – August 2019

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Tomorrow get out and catch some fish! Head home on Sunday.

just local driving, dodging school zones

School districts around here are starting on different days this week and next. I almost have to watch the news each morning to see if the route i took yesterday will work today or tomorrow.

Down to NC and back last weekend

Finally retired the old '98 Honda Civic (334,000+ miles) and drove the 'new to me' 2011, BMW 335d down and back. 36+ MPG on the hyper-miling drive back home. I never had a vehicle before capable of 600 miles to a tankful. (16 gallon tank at that!) The Honda went to a single mom needing a car for $1.

Thanks for the above kindness

We are both very positive and know we will beat this?
He has a rare cancer and for now if is being treated with two shots a day. I have never given a shot before and have to give these each day. It is stressful. In a couple of weeks they will start him on a larger shot once a month. He will get these in the dr. Office. So far we can see some improvement in his breathing and cough.
I am staying very positive and this keeps him positive.
Thanks again for the above thoughts.

Fishing trip

Well, the first-day outboard not starting. Fixed starter and other various problems found at this time.
Relaunch boat next morning, the engine starts and off we go. Lost one and had a shaker on and that's about it. Saw many boats out but only about 4 nets into the water for fish.
Headed home the next day.

Crossville, TN and the Cumberland Plateau

I traveled across the Cumberland Plateau to Crossville, TN to get sourwood honey. Sourwood honey is seasonal in the Appalachian areas of East TN, West NC, and North GA. It is a special honey and a commodity if you are a honey connoisseur.

Buyers outside of the region beware of imitation sourwood honey that has added flavoring and is labeled as sourwood. Buyers should also beware of most honey on the grocery store shelves. Unfortunately the food industry takes honey and adds high fructose corn syrup and other sweeteners to the honey. It is also highly filtered, so the original honey is extremely processed. For this reason we only buy our honey from local apiaries.

As a bonus, I stopped on the way back home to pick some fresh blueberries and get 100% blueberry juice, blueberry syrup, blueberry jam, blackberry jam, wildflower honey, and bronze (white) muscadine juice. Overall, it was a good day for obtaining farm fresh products from local farmers.

Thanks, we should find out more Thursday. They may start the monthly shots. If they do I think I get to stop giving the two a day shots. I am getting better at the shots but his arms are running out of spaces to give the shots.
Thanks again for your concern.
