i upload csv chicago attractions to my laptop but i cant get it to upload to my garmin..when i us the uploader it doesnt give me the option to upload this file.why?

Have you uploaded any csv files to your unit before?
See page 38 of your manual
The poi loader I have does not ask me for a file to load. I load all the csv files into the directory I am using for my uploads, then execute the poi loader software. The file name of poi files will show up on your unit after it updates.

I noticed that gerrydrake is signed in. He should be able to answer all your questions, he has the same model unit as you.
