Has anyone heard from Turbocc

There was a post some time back that Turbocc wasn't well.

Has anyone been in contact with him? He has been a great help to all of us at POI Factory..

I hope all is well with him

turboccc

He went by turboccc (3 Cs in his User name).

I know turboccc lived in Canada, but I'm not sure where in Canada.

I recall hearing around 2010 that he was not in good health.

I don't recall seeing him post anywhere (he was active on various navigation websites) in the last 7 years or so.

Doing a quick check of his Wikispaces websites:
( turboccc.wikispaces.com/page/messages/Downloads )
( turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor )
shows them to be closed, with a message saying; 'It’s time to say Farewell…'

turboccc designed numerous utility tools to help navigation 'maintainers', primarily with their POIs and files.

turboccc's two most popular utilites were:

* Extra POI Editor
(It is a free program that allows you to create, view, edit and convert GPX, CSV, MGLN, OV2, XLS and KML POI files to any other format. It is an easy way to create or modify TourGuides files by adding icon, MP3 or JPG files.)
* RGN_Tool
(This program is an utility to manipulate Garmin RGN/GCD firmware files.)

.

Maybe John or Angela knows more about him since turboccc was a mega powerful navigation expert that helped a whole lot of people both here on POI Factory and other GPS navigation websites and message boards.

Sad to hear, hopefully all

Sad to hear, hopefully all is OK.

He did come back for a short while.

I believe it was within the year. He worked on EPE and the google map issue but he didn't stay long.

I think this was one of Turboccc's last posts on POI Factory in Nov. 2017.

I thought he said he had a new job a few years ago and had been too busy to work on EPE.

He came back for a fix and it was a post here that someone mentioned that he might not be well.

Maybe John or Angela would be the best ones to reach out to him.

Turbo has been very kind to

Turbo has been very kind to me in the past, going out of his way to help me with some personal GPS and POI projects. Five years ago I received an email from Turbo and shared it with the POI Factory community in this thread: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39596. The indications in the email I received at that time was that Turbo was well, involved in a new job, and that he simply no longer had the time to regularly work on EPE and his other online projects.

He did return to POI Factory briefly to update EPE but there were apparently too many ongoing changes in background apps/programs (such as Google) for him to continue to keep EPE current. He also mentioned in one of his posts that his kids were growing up quickly and that he had received a work promotion demanding even more of his limited time and attention! I personally miss hearing from him and enjoying his wonderful sense of humor, but it appears that it is not currently a realistic expectation for him to remain online daily, or even frequently, given his work and family demands.

I personally thank Turbo for all his contributions to this and other online communities and wish him the very best!

I can't seem to find a web site where I can download the program. I have it on my desktop but can't/don't know how to download a program and install it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI

I updated the page with the EPE links today. The 6.04 link was pointing to the wrong file and older versions were added.

It's been a long time since I've seen any mention of the "Extra POI Editor," the app that creates .GPX files. I'm mentioning it here just to let the more recent Factoryites know that it exists. It's the app to use if you want to convert .csv files to .GPX files rather easily. The above link works (I just tried it) and the top-most version, v604, is the most recent. I'll let the EPE experts answer any questions that arise. By the way, the latest link works.
