For Those Concerned About TurboCCC

Several weeks back, I received an email from TurboCCC. He is well. His absence is due to new employment beginning in early 2012 to which he has devoted his full energy, leaving him little time to work on his GPS projects.

I did not post earlier because I hoped -- and still hope -- that TurboCCC might drop in to say "Hello" to all of us here who are his good friends.

However, in light of TurboCCC's continued absence from posting on POI Factory and ongoing expressions of concern among members about his welfare, I decided to share part of his email:

"I am not sure if I will continue to maintain my programs or design new ones, but I often think of POI-Factory. I made good friends there and sometimes I miss interacting with all of you. You were really good people. Someday I should login to say ’hello’.

...

Best regards,

Turbo"

That is great news

that Turboccc is well. He has many friends in several forums that have all been worried. We are all thankful for the tremendous contributions he has made to GPS enthusiasts, and would love to see him come back and participate. But I understand how career and family need to be his #1 priority.

Welcome News

TurboCCC should let his new boss read this thread to know how smart and well liked he is.

Who knows, after reading the thread, maybe a raise for him on the horizon.

Amen.

I have used his program and was able to create useful projects for me. I am lost without my many GPSs (Garmin, TomTom).

What a Relief!

I was going to post a question, but thanks for telling us, selfruler.

Yes, good to know

Thanks for the info selfruler, and thanks nats50 for resurrecting this thread so I could find it!

I haven't been on in quite a while myself and had been a bit concerned about Turbo.

It's been roughly 5 years since Turbo started working on software to fill the many gaps in Garmin (and Tom Tom) poi utilities. His contribution is significant and still valuable today. It's because of his willingness to listen to and implement suggestions that make his utilities so valuable.. not just the fact that he gave (gives) them away for free.

I'm glad he is busy and hopefully making more than enough to buy his wife (and family) chocolates. mrgreen

I do wish he'd find some time to dig into EPE again, though. Last conversations we had were about the tip of Garmin's poi file iceburg! But then again, I've moved away from Garmin stuff myself. Life goes on.

Turbo.. when you get back here and see this thread, know THIS:

YOU are good people!

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Thank you Turbo

Turbo, Thanks for all you've done for us. It is much appreciated. Wishing you nothing but the best in the future.
