iPhone iPad NOT Auto Updating.

My iPhone 6, Wife’s 8+,and iPad all see new iOS version there. On my iPhone I manually did the update, letting Wife’s auto update.
On every device I see the message “Will try to Auto Update tonight”...............

But It never does. The next day it reports it will try to update tonight. You can guess the success rate!

Why display this if it won’t work??

What?

What IOS are you trying to update to? 12.1.2 has some problems, including loss of cell service on some aps. Check here.

Update servers too busy.

Update servers too busy. That would be my guess. That's probably why Apple throws in the word "try" instead of "will update".

FYI, iOS 12.1.1 is the latest for iPad. iOS 12.1.2 is for iPhone only.

The latest version of iOS is 12.1.2 for iPhone 5s and later, and 12.1.1 for iPad Air and later and iPod touch 6th generation.

There are two versions of

There are two versions of the 12.1.2. A newer version was released 3 days after the first with same version number but different build.

Have you made sure it was plugged in? I found it would only do the downloads and upgrades when plugged in even if I had a fully charged battery. But I just have an old SE.
