Power button problem

Not sure if this is a good place to ask about this, but the power button on my 2597 no longer works. I think a spring broke inside so the button does nothing now. Any ideas how I can fix it? I just need to find a way to get the button to contact the switch inside again. It won't move at all now. Thanks.

You Can Try..

Here is link to a youtube video showing how to replace a 2597 battery:

After the case is opened, about 2 minutes into the video, you can see the power switch in the upper left of the screen. If you are handy with tools, it seems a simple matter to open the case and access the switch.

If it is stuck or missing a spring, you may be able to repair it. If it is necessary to replace the switch, you might want to consult a repair service such as Sharcnet:

Hope this helps.

Power Button

If the power button has no effect but still springs back when pressed, then the switch is most likely defective and needs replaced.

It is possible that the switch has broken away from the board or has been pushed out of reach from the power button flap in the case to reach the plunger of the switch.

The power switch flap is part of the case, so if the flap is the problem, then the case will need to be replaced.

Here's a sample picture of what a normal power button looks like:

There is no spring external to the switch.

Note: Pictures shown are of a Nuvi 660 but the same principle applies for many Nuvi models, though the switch style and location may vary slightly.
