Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – May 2018

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

to the local hardware store and not very exciting. Needed an AC filter.

To use ones that cost around $8 each. The previous homeowner said to (not sure why I would listen to him but they just replaced the system). My buddy said do not use those expensive filters, didn't listen. HVAC guy said the same, and he demonstrated to me the restricted airflow by measuring temps at various points near the furnace (really high with expensive filter, same at two points with cheap)....learn stuff all the time, cheap is best...we're talking $1 or so!

Not Important

The actual destination isn't particularly important but it was interesting how my Garmin got me there. I was meeting some people at a camp grounds, luckily I only have a short pickup popup camper on a standard size pickup. I don't have a special RV friendly GPS but it plotted a route that I could not turn left into the campgrounds because of a median. So Garmin had me turn on a narrow residential street up a steep hill, 90 degree turn on another narrow street before getting onto a street that takes me back where I could turn to go down the proper side of the street to make a right hand turn. If I would have had a long motorhome or was pulling a trailer I would have probably knew better than to have turned down that street but was thinking the people in that neighborhood probably gets a good show at times.

5 State Run

Had a really good time this year at Guymon, Ok annual 5 State Run. Used my Garmin to route me a slightly different route to and from the Oklahoma panhandle. Was able to visit 2 of the 3 tri-state markers. Was saddened to see the weather vane at the Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado corner that marked this spot on the ground in pieces. Not clear if it was an act of vandalism or if weather was responsible. It had been there for many, many years.
