Brand new Nuvi 2539 Went Bad

I purchased a brand new Nuvi 2539 last September. I just sent it back for warranty repair. I got the replacement last week. The replacement unit seems ok. The micro usb plug became very contrary. It would not receive traffic signals and would charge intermittently leaving me a stone dead battery. Has anyone else had problems with their micro usb ports?

None Here

No issues here. I've been using Garmins for 10+ years now and never had that problem.

A couple thoughts

Welcome to The Factory. Stick around, there's a lot of great information here in addition to custom POIs.

Two thoughts:

For the future, consider buying a GPS with a powered mount rather than one that requires connecting/disconnecting the cable from the GPS:

For now, look through the Garmin forum here. There have been several discussions of the benefits of configuring the cable in the vehicle to reduce strain on the USB plug/socket.

Powered mount

It seems that inadvertantly all my GPS's had/have that feature. Having said that though the Nuvi 855's mount is becoming a bit wonky now.

I had the same problem.

If it's like the one I had, the cable sticks out the back and jiggles the port around, eventually causing the solder to crack. Seems like a poor design to me...

Never ...

... had a power mount and never had any issues with the connector.
