Nuvi 2539 and 2559 -- Will the battery drain quicker in hibernation mode

Does anyone know the difference between hibernation and power off? I know that hibernation starts up the unit much quicker. Will the battery drain quicker if I do not use the unit for a few weeks and leave the unit to hibernate? Thanks for the answers.

Yes, Hibernate is standby,

Yes, Hibernate is standby, and the unit will run the battery down. Hod the power button in the off position until you get asked to shut down, and choose yes.

The battery will stay charged much longer this way.

Thanks for explaining. I

Thanks for explaining. I knew that hibernation drains notebook batteries quicker. I was not sure about the GPS.

.

Just like hibernate/sleep/standby on a PC, the GPS will power on quicker (doesn't need to do a full power-on boot) but uses more battery to power certain aspects of the device to achieve this.

Hibernation mode

No, it doesn't. Hibernate mode in a computer uses zero power. Sleep or standby use a little bit. However, I don't know if just clicking it off - instead of going all the way to off as phranc suggests - is hibernate or sleep in a Garmin.

My 70LMT Dies often in winter

My DriveSmart 70LMT dies overnight frequently in the cold winter (has done since the first year I got it) and while this is not a problem in the summertime, I can't help but wonder if it's due to some battery drain while it's in standby/hibernate mode and due to shortened battery life when cold, it sucks it dry. In other words, it has to fully boot up in the morning on very cold days rather than instantly resuming.

Hold Off

Hold the off switch to off until the shut down screen shows.
