About all you could update here would be any custom POI files she downloaded from here. Everything else would need to be updated from the TomTom site or the TomTom software on your computer with the GPS attached.
On this site you can update POIs (PLACES OF INTEREST), updating the actual maps and software for your equipment, can be done from the link below (if you are in the USA).
My only complaint with ALL TOMTOMs is the maps are so large, you can only get only a few 'FREE FULL MAP UPDATES' and the memory gets maxxed out. If this happens to you, you have to get a memory card for your unit (if your unit can accept one)... or get HALF of the map.
When updating maps, it takes a LONG TIME. I usually set it up, then go to sleep.... and it is finished in the morning.
In the city where I live, there are a number of East Indian guy's who will sell you a CD, SD card or will update the TomTom in about 15 - 20 minutes for about Cdn $ 20.00 with the current map.
