Thanks canuk.Just removed it. This also just came up http://www.wired.com/2016/04/uninstall-quicktime-on-windows/

There’s not much reason to have QuickTime on a Windows rig in this day and age, because there are so many better options for watching video. That’s why Apple has stopped updating it. And since a lack of updates means a lack of protection—including against two active vulnerabilities–you need to dump it. Like, today. Like, now.The two vulnerabilities were reported by Trend Micro, and will never be patched. In parable terms, it’s like having a hole in the dike, and instead of using his finger to stop it up, the little Dutch boy has left for college.

The same goes for Java, too.

As Java's web browser plug-in won't be in Java 9. Few these days are in dire need of it, I'd say.

Wasn't QuickTime bundled

Wasn't QuickTime bundled with iTunes installation some years ago?

I'm not sure what role QuickTime plays in iTunes. Is it needed to convert video to iOS compatible format or is it only needed to play video/movies?

My wife has a IPad 2 so I have to keep I Tunes on the PC for her fild transferring and etc. Most updates usually bundle Quick Time with it. We don't really use it. Just never took the time to remove it. From link https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuickTime .

QuickTime is bundled with OS X. QuickTime for Microsoft Windows has always been downloadable as a standalone installation, as well as being bundled with Apple's iTunes (prior to iTunes 10.5).

Even Adobe is saying to remove Flash.

Way back when...

QuickTime was the only avenue to view .mov files. In modern times this has changed.

ones was good

Quicktime long time ago it was very good. if you wanted to watch movie and movie trailer from quicktime web site was the perfect program to use..but now most web site if you have window media player is good enough.

If you are using Adobe after effect still require you to use quicktime cause require some codecs

I don't have Flash, (MAC). However, YMMV. There's still too many ignorant, (stupid) programmers out there who won't, or can't, program HTML5. They are too stuck on Microsoft's proprietary programming, or Adobe, to make things in your browser work properly.

If all you watch is YouTube, then remove Flash. But there will still be a number of broken websites that you will visit, that won't work. Network News sites are among the biggest culprits.

If all you do on the computer is watching Youtube, yes, remove it. Youtube doesn't depend on FlashPlayer anymore.

Thanks for the information

Not An Apple Issue

My post has nothing to do with Apple and everything to do with Flash being evil and wide open for security breaches.

Thanks, will keep it. I do like watching the news on line.

the problem comes in when

the problem comes in when you have a windoz program that requires QT to run. I don't want to spend the money to upgrade my StarryNight Pro v6 so I guess I am stuck with it for now.
