Yes it can be disabled. Just look for myTrends and disable it.

The way it works is it tracks your travels and notes repetitious behavior with places you have assigned as Favorites, for example home to work and back. When you leave home it assumes you will be headed to work and creates a route for you. Most of us probably don't need Samantha's help to get to work and back but if your commute often entails traffic delays, this might be useful if it guides you around the trouble spots. I'm also in the camp that finds this annoying and turned it off.

Thanks for the help. It would be so nice if Garmin actually gave us a manual. I guess I'll have to do a search and download it so I can see what other features and settings I don't know about.

But more serious, I have the little "Dashboard" box on the right of the screen set to Compass for every day driving and Arrival Time when on a Route. When the 3597 decides it know my destination the box is set for Arrival Time but shows no time!, very useful.

I've had my 2597 for about a year. I live on a crescent and usually approach from the south, but if I had a route set for home, always pointed me to the north entrance. After about 6 months, it decided, "guess he wants to take the south entrance" and changed the routing. Since upgrading to 2017.1, it has changed back to routing me to the north entrance. Go figure...

Your results could be explained if the older map finally used your preferred route because myTrends was enabled. If myTrends resets with each map update, then it'll start the learning process again before it "knows" your preferred route.

I have observed a similar behavior on my 3597. I can get the time to display if I go to the main screen and then back to the map.

Good point. I don't know if myTrends resets with map updates. We seem to have some conflicting info. Then too, it could be that Garmin introduced a myTrends reset recently and that earlier map updates preserved the old myTrends data while recent updates delete it. If we knew what file myTrends data was in and if we could see the file size before and after recent map updates, maybe we'd know more.

Traffic trend file is a .db file in the SQLite folder. I believe myTrends is there also.
