MapSource doesn't recognize my new nuvi

How do I load my favorites into my new nuvi? MapSource doesn't recognize it and I don't see an option to restore my favorites in Garmin Express.

Can I simply rename and copy the userdata.gpx file?

I restored my favorites to another drive and it created a file called userdata.gpx. Can I rename this current.gpx and copy it to my nuvi GPX folder?

Or do I just copy userdata.gpx to the GPX folder?

I have a faint memory of doing that to load favorites in the past.

Change to mass storage

Have you put your device in the mass storage mode? See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/41416 .That will take care of the MapSource problem as long as you have your maps installed on the computer.

Yes, just so you remame it.Once you reboot gps they will load to the current.gpx. Then go back and delete the renamed file.

I forgot about that. I ended up just copying the userdata.gpx file to the GPX folder, but I will remember to change to mass storage mode the next time I need to use MapSource.

You will need to put it in Mass Storage to make a backup of your GPS.

Mass storage

I am not sure what you mean by mass storage.
On my 2450 I just plug it into the computer to work on it.
Is there something else I need to do?

The Nuvi 2450 doesn't show on the list as being MTP mode. You should already be in the Mass storage mode.
See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40814 for info. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/41416 for more info and how to change it.

I never had to do anything to get to my files and stuff. It has always worked and I wondered what everyone was talking about.
Thanks

Mary. Knowing how you like to try the latest things. Most likely your next GPS will be in the MTP mode unless Garmin changes things.
