Good Price on a NEW Nuvi 3597 LMTHD!

Best Buy is selling brand new Nuvi 3597's on their eBay store for $260 with free shipping.

With refurbs going for $240, this is the best price I've seen for a new unit in quite some time.

Just because this unit is advertised as new doesn't mean it actually is. My advice is to buy on eBay and have the unit shipped to your local Best Buy store. New units are shipped in fully illustrated boxes. If the box is white with black or blue printing, its a refurb and should be marked as such. Don't accept it. You can get a better price on a refurb elsewhere.

If the unit is a refurb, you may be able to negotiate with the store for a new 3597 since the unit was falsely advertised.

****EDIT***

Best Buy is now offering the same $260 price on their website:

Is It Really New

Good information in making a safe purchase advertised as new.
You may be right that they are refurbs.

To further cover your butt I would ask the seller (Best Buy) a question at the bottom of the page. Ask thm the markings on the box that is to be shipped to verify it is new. This way you have a record with Ebay that the seller's product was not as advertised since it's a refurb.

Edited - Just saw your edited post while typing. I would buy the one in the store and avoid Ebay if the price is the same. You can see the box before going to the register.

Thanks for the info

For anyone wanting a new 3597 (or were thinking refurb until they saw this new price), now is the time to buy.

From my experience, Best Buy sales can be exceedingly short-lived so potential buyers shouldn't assume they have a while to think about buying one.

In case anyone prefers buying from eBay (for eBay bucks or whatever), I can say that I bought a Vizio 50" HDTV from Best Buy on eBay with an in-store pickup and it worked just fine. I was even able to have the purchase apply to my Best Buy Rewards. I agree that for most folks an in-store purchase makes more sense than by using eBay as a middleman.

Pulled The Trigger, But . . .

Couldn't find it "available" via their web site at any BestBuy store within a 2 hour drive, so I figured eBay was my only option. The Buy It Now option there directs you to choose a local store for pickup, so I did!

Fingers crossed, waiting to see if it's actually "available for pickup" in under an hour from now . . .

@ Bayou Navigator

I have two 255WT units and am very happy and content with them.

That being said, after reading numerous posts of other members praising and loving the 3597LMTHD, they "convinced me" in buying one even though I had absolutely no need for it.

Result: I'm VERY HAPPY with my new toy and use the GPS more often now than I've ever done in the past.

Congratulations, I'm certain you won't regret your investment & will appreciate the new features this unit offers.

Good News

My old faithful but much loved and well updated 755t was acting a bit oddly at times on the last trip. I had to completely cycle power to clear the button press delays, display freezes, and search hangs on a handful of uses over a week's time. For good measure, I also ejected and reseated the 8GB Lexar Class 10 SDHC memory card each time--the only other thing that was "new" since the last map update (w/ factory defaults reset afterward).

Things ran fine after each recycle, but on the possibility that my 755t was really giving me "a sign", now seemed like a good time for an update (thanks bdhsfz6 for the tip and canuk for the endorsement).

The good news is the 3597LMTHD I picked up is indeed the brand new, unopened retail version. It came with 2015.10 maps and is now charging until I get time to come back and download some updates. FWIW, nothing on the outside of the box offers any clues about date manufactured or map version included.

Just for good measure...

Do a full backup of the device before your change or update anything. I did that with my 3597. I named the backup folder "3597 Out of Box". I have never had to restore files from that backup, but have found it useful sometimes for comparing current files and sizes to what came on the unit. I also know I can get my 3597 back to its original condition as shipped if I ever need to.

Thanks For The Reminder

I always backed up the 755t beforehand, but with all the new shiny features and such on the 3597, I had almost forgotten because I've been wrapped up getting up to speed on the AC Charger / USB cable issues that caught me by surprise.

I'm glad the purchase went well for you.

If you used the FM traffic feature on your 755T, depending on where you drive, you should see an improvement with HD traffic on your new 3597.

If you have an android or iOS smartphone, you may also want to consider Garmin’s Smartphone Link app for your 3597.

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-go/apps/smartphone-li...

The basic app is free but for a onetime fee of $39, you can add a host of useful options like Garmin’s “Live Traffic” feature. Many of us here at the factory find that Live Traffic is the best traffic service Garmin offers.
