Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – August 2015

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

South Lake Tahoe

was the destination. Did a good job in getting me there. Yes, I already knew the way. But I did have time schedules to view..

To the beach

Got stuck in traffic on the way back, but up in the Coast Range, there's no cell reception and no FM traffic service, so we didn't know until we were in it. By the time we got to the front of the slowdown (20 miles, 1.5 hours), whatever had happened had already been cleared.

From Saint Andrews, New brunswick to Sherbrooke, Quebec

I left Saint Andrews, New Brunswick and headed to Sherbrooke, Quebec today

A great trip through some very scenic country

Hospital Trip

My first trip over to the Cleveland Clinic to visit my daughter. The ole nuvi 1450 doesn't miss a beat. I do still have to copy over the large jcv from the zumo 665 or nuvi 765, the little one works but it's not as good.

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

Mt. Shasta

Lovely place, except the smoke from all the fires covered the mountain....

Loved the Fish Hatchery. Best time I have had for $0.35 in years....

The Tropics

Just got back from Hawaii.

Cancelled...

Was supposed to go on a 'ride' tomorrow but it looks like rain in Eastern Ontario. But...they've been wrong before.

JUST GOT BACK

From visiting relatives in Argyle, Tx. GPS worked great. But there is too much road construction in and around Ft. Worth. I didn't notice if traffic was working or not on the GPS. I was too busy keeping my eyes on the traffic. GPS got me from point A to point B with no problem.

Have stopped by this windmill several times bit it's never operational. Just never the same place since a volunteer died from a fall at the top of the cap in 2011.

went to New Braunfels to play at a waterpark

Got a little frustrated at Waze and its wacky routing for some straightforward driving. On the other hand, it has Google searches to find restaurants that are not in Garmin.

Doing upgrades at a site and we discover some infrastructure problems. Sure, we can clean those up as well...

Some internet searches and a phone call or two later, I'm on my way to pick up parts, my trusty navigator leading the way!

Western NY to Eastern TN

Made yet another trip from Jonesborough, TN to Williamson, NY to Jonesborough, TN. I think we are completely moved to TN now. My 2589 does a strange thing. Going up it took us on a route that got us on an interstate sooner but was 8 miles further, coming back it took the shorter route and got us off the interstate sooner. Oh well we made it.

Another Week

Use it whenever the engine is running.

Last Trip

Just came back from a wedding in Ann Arbor Michigan.
Had the 2597 all the time helped with some alternate routes due to construction and accidents almost ran out of gas but it helped me locate stations.

Updating the POIs...

and heading out of town for a couple of weeks. Bless the house sitter.

Meeting up with friends who just drove down the Alaska highway for their move from Alaska to Washington state. Good times!

Ft. Worth construction...ugh!

Ugh!
I will be heading through there on my way to Mineral Wells, TX from the NYC area. I hope that it isn't like the NY/NJ/DC traffic that I am prone to experience. Nothing like being just hours from your destination after over 20 hours driving, only to sit there and wait.

On my way to my class

Going to the dive shop for an evening class, I checked my ETA to see how late I was running due to traffic. I still made it in plenty of time.

I also wanted to see if the map update reflected the recent construction completion. It hadn't.

Thankfully the car didn't get stuck in the mud this time.

Chicago

last trip was to Chicago. gPS doesn't work well in Loop, though, and double-decker roadways like Wacker Drive are tricky to navigate via GPS.
