how long do you keep your garmin?

The 680 broke in 3 yrs, but this 2350 is past 4....only one annoyance is the odd maps that lack 20 y.o. roads (nuvi says to navigate off road), and that it routes one way to a location, a different way back sometimes. But overall it still works....

<<Page 3

It took 2.5 years (07/02/2015 - 01/28/2018)

But phranc got it right: "Till they no longer work. Or is the question, 'How often you replace your Garmin?' If so, whenever a new unit has enough bells and whistle to really attract me."

Amazing how old threads sometimes find new life!

Still Going Strong

My 650 is still doing well. It was a refurb and it's never missed a beat.

But The 2699 I got last Summer sure is light years more advanced. The 650 mounts on my cycle so I'll hang on to it.

Still running

Garmin c550 and 1450 Still going and going, even if they are not Duracell. They may not be the latest model but they still are taking me from point A to point B..

While I seldom use it...

...I still have my working Garmin EMap.

I still have the following...

I still have everyone and all are working (just not upgraded)

Long time

I kept my last Garmin Nuvi 765T for 4 years and then got the 3597LMTHD, which I have had for 4 years now. However, I plan to keep the 3597 as long as it is working. Gave the 765t to my son.

Don't know

Sold my first Garmin, a 350 years ago, as far as I know still going. Gave my 3790 to my daughter, still uses it.. Still own and use the 855 and the 2797.

Nine Years and Still Kicking

We have a Nuvi 650. Hard to believe that it has been that long. Received it as a gift for driving to two of my daughter's college. They have since graduated, gone on to graduate school, and now use it for visiting. See how much longer it lasts.

260 still going

The 260, approaching 10 years old, is like the energizer bunny, still going...

I do not use it actually. It stays in a drawer, I get it out just to update the map. 3597 is in daily use nowadays.

Time sure goes by fast

I keep mine until they no longer work..

...even if I buy a new one. I've got a Nuvi 350 that I've had since 2009, I believe. When I bought it, I gave my old Street Pilot c330 to my brother-in-law. (Made him happy.) grin

I still have 2 units

I have a 2597LMT and a 765T changed the battery on the 765T a month ago.

3 years

After 3 years, I have noticed that I have no internal storage for map updates. I don't want to have purchase a microSD card.

Well ...

You could try deleting unused voice etc files to free up some space but as cards are so cheap why are you so against buying one?

I've had them since 2009, and 2011 respectively.

SD card and map updates

My Garmin with lifetime maps didn't have enough internal memory for the new maps starting a couple of years ago, so I installed an SD memory card to keep it running on the latest maps. It does what I need, so there is no need to replace it.

2689

I've had it for about 3 years and it continues to serve me well. In this day and age where so many products, especially electronic ones, are made to be disposable and replaced often, this one continues to do it's job after 3 years. I appreciate that, and will recommend Garmin products to my friends because of that.

When it finally gives up working or Garmin stops supporting it, I'll most likely start using my phone for navigation unless Garmin is offering a better solution at that time. Until then, the trusty 2689 will be my road companion.

Until it stops working

Or gets stolen wink

I've had mine for better

I've had mine for better than 10 years

As long as it lasts

My new car has a built in Nav system but my Garmin is always along for the ride. It has been truly/consistently dependable. It is useful as a back up as well as to compare routes. A few times, my Garmin custom avoidances come into play and helps me customize the Nav route. The built in does not yet have this flexibility.....

A major deficiency with the built in unit, is the apparent age of it's map data.

I kept it until it die.

Why throw away when you get free updates.

Still have and use my 2450

I've still got and use my first and only GPS, the nuvi 2450 that I've had for over 6 1/2 years. I still prefer it to using the smartphone. Right now I only use the smartphone when going to a new place and my sister has borrowed my GPS.

How long do you keep your Garmin?

I have a nuvi 1490 LMT that I've had for about 6 years. Still works perfectly. Bought a nuvi 2639 LMT last year because I thought the touch screen was going out on my old one. Ends up all I had to do was calibrate the screen. No issues after that.

255W

My 255W that I purchased in August 2010 has just started acting weird. Rather than upgrade, I convinced my brother to give me his old 255W as a replacement. It still works just fine.

Edit: Since writing the above, I seem to have figured out the problem with my old 255W: loose SD card. If I push the SD card adapter back in securely, it seems OK again. So, my original 255W from 2010 lives on! I might jam a bit of paper in with the card to keep it from coming loose again.

Edit Edit: Nope, my original 255W is still acting weird.

Nuvi 680...

Still going strong after over 10 years.

Same... It's out-lasted two

Until they die. My 1350LTM

Until they die. My 1350LTM is about 10 years old. My other devices are dead or have a broken screen none of which are worth fixing.

Very unlikely to buy another device as my cell phone works better than any Garmin GPS.

I have 2

I have 2 of them C550 and 1450 and they still running and working as they should, I do not see no reason to get a new one

I've Had Mine Now Seven Years

I've had my Nuvi going on seven years. Still works like a charm. I've thought about replacing it, but until it dies, I probably won't.

I keep mine until it breaks

I keep mine until it breaks or if there's an updated version with features that catch my eye then l'll retire the current one. But so far nothing caught my eye so I replaced the battery on my current nuvi 2598 and it's still going strong.

765T and RVND7720 - Still have them in use

Still have my 765T with lifetime maps. Works fine, so no need to buy a new one yet. Also have an RVND7720 with back up camera attached, so guess I will keep that one too.
We used the Garmin and RVND in our RV.

Our Jeep came with GPS.

With so many apps, I wonder how long the stand a lone units with survive.

Still using my 3490LMT. I hate to give up the 4.3" screen. Fits in pocket nicely and have no issues. Only thing is that the internal memory is almost full.

quit in under 3 yrs. the 2650LMT is going on 7.5 yrs. I believe, imho there is no reason to prematurely replace, nor is there any reason to ever buy another since the smartphones work much better...

This is when I consider a new garmin...

1. It stops working correctly.

2. No more map updates available.

3. There is a wicked sale deal like 50% off or more. I then upgrade.

I update mine with the latest maps, but I never use it.
