Garmin 3790T Stalls On Update

I'm trying to download the latest North American map update(2015.30) onto the unit but it stalls at 56%.

Next I try and download it to my computer only. Now it stalls at 75%

I have the lifetime update.

Any ideas appreciated.

Free space?

How much free space do you have on the C: drive of your computer (assuming you are using Windows)?

Using Windows.
C Drive = 202 Gigs free

OK.

Then that isn't the problem. Check the power saving settings on your computer to make sure it is not going into sleep mode or turning off certain devices during the download. If that isn't the problem, then it is probably just a glitch in your Internet connection.

another suggestion

To add to alandb’s suggestion, you may also try to disable your Anti Virus,Firewall, and Screen Saver if using one.

Also if you are encountering this issue using Garmin Express, how about trying MapUpdater instead.
Download GarminMapupdter V 3.3.3 here:
http://download.garmin.com/lmu/GarminMapUpdater.exe

I would try using MapUpdater first before disabling Anti Virus, Firewall, & Screen Saver,

Had the same problem. Tried

Had the same problem. Tried mapUpdater and it failed as well. Got out an old XP netbook and it updated no problem. Try updating from a different computer if possible.

Garmin 3790T Stalls On Update

Well.....took the unit upstairs and plugged it into my wife's laptop running Windows7.
Guess what?
Downloaded the new maps, both to her computer and the unit in no time flat.
G@#$%N Windows 8.1.

Thanx for all the help/suggestions guys.

Problem solved.

When this happened to me

When this exact same thing happened to me a while back with my 660, it was a "Flakey" cable modem that was giving up on very large files.

If you're using windows, bring up the Task Manager", click on the "Networking" tab and watch the chart while downloading. If you get periods of low transfer speeds that seem to last a long time, I would be suspicious of the modem or router. It may even "Flatline" at 75%. See if IE works at that point, or is slow.

A Garmin tech was able to log in to my computer remotely and download "Sections" one by one and then install the map. I hope that dedicated employee is still working there as he took almost an hour to do it. I bought a new cable modem the next day.

Of course, the day a new map release comes out, you can toss that theory out the window
