how to set starting address?

I'm using a 2555LMT and I'd like to program a simulated route but I'd like to move the starting address. Is there any way to set the starting address?

Try this

Wow, even knowing what I wanted, I had to work harder than I should have to find the answer in the manual.

Check page 15 of the Owners Manual: Setting a Simulated Location

http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/nuvi_2405_2505_series_OM.p...

Once you've Set the Location to the new address, create a route as normal with the Whereto and press Go to start the simulation which will give you total time, miles, route chosen, etc.

When you're done, just power down and restart the GPS or disable the GPS Simulator to return to the real world and your current true location.

Simulation

I don't have your model Garmin. But on mine you press Tools>System>Turn off GPS for indoor use.

Then enter starting address and press GO. Then on the bottom of the map there should be a "Set Location" button to press. Once this is set you then enter destination and hit GO. Answer NO to the "Drive route now question". Then you can press the green bar at the top of the screen to scroll thru "Turn by turn directions and See the whole map too.

Use Basecamp

Simulating a route on the 2555 or almost any Garmin is tedious. First you have to set start and then it simulstes in real time. You could be watching the simulation for hours.

Basecamp will pretty much match your gps route and do it immediately.

I do a fair amount of simulations but I only let the simulation "run" when I am testing things like icons and alerts. In these instances, I have previously set up an address which will navigate past the spots I am testing. Then - recently found quickly gets me to the destination for the simulation.

Otherwise, I am really only interested in the Turn-By-Turn directions which I can review without actually simulating in real time.

@ GPSgreek

I'll have to disagree with you on this one.

As mldorsey states :

I've done the latter for several years now and you can easily add a via to shape the route to your liking without ever having to install or use Basecamp wink
