I'm not familiar with the particular model, but I've had to replace the battery for my 750 once. I got a kit from Amazon which included the battery and a prying tool (essentially a small flathead screw driver).
It also had an instruction DVD, but I didn't bother with it, since there were plenty of instructions available on YouTube.
I just Googled. A replacement battery for a 2797 is available on Amazon, though without a "prying tool." I didn't see an instruction for your particular model, but other Garmin battery replacement I saw seemed similar to 750. I'd guess the process is common to all Garmin models.
Haven't had to replace my Garmin battery yet, but when I do I'm going to try NewPower99.com. They have good YouTube videos and include the tools you need - including the pry tool someone above mentioned.

Batteries Plus will do it for $15 + cost of battery
Local will do it on spot while you wait, might want to check your local and see if they do it.
