Has anyone opened up their Garmin to clean out interior? I have had it in dusty conditions several times. It looks to have only the speaker that is open to the elements. Would like to lightly blow out as I do with my computers. Is that doable or should I not worry about it?

.

The unit is effectively sealed...but not like a hard drive however.

You can open it to clean it's insides but I doubt there would be anything to clean. Should you decide to do it, find how to open up your particular unit on youtube. You can find the unit's opening procedure in numerous how-to's on replacing the battery. You'll also need the right tools which would be a plastic prying tool and the proper Torx (usually a Torx T-5) bit for your specific device.

My opinion

The old saying, If it aint broke, dont fix it!

Never heard of anyone opening a GPS to clean the inside. You may cause yourself more grief then anything else.

I think that I'll take your advice. I do have other problems.

I've had several apart and never found any dust inside. Save yourself unnecessary aggravation and leave it alone.
