Nuvi 855 Tracks

I typically download my tracks on a weekly basis to MapSource, then delete them from the 855. For the past 3-4 weeks, it tells me there are no tracks to download, even though when I set the device to "show" trip log, there are tracks there; similar result for routes, even though there are routes on the device.

Last week, it did download some tracks, but not all of them. I disconnected the device, turned it off, reconnected and all of the tracks downloaded. So far this week, nada.

Any ideas out there in Garmin land?

Hi Doug

Try a hard reset and see if that helps any, just remember to back-up your favorites beforehand.

855 Track download

How are you downloading the tracks? Basecamp? Or are you just reading current.gpx with some 3rd party program?

I have been suspicious that if you let the trip log fill up and let it start overlaying the older tracks, it sometimes does not overlay properly. In otherwords, the new recorded points won't always overlay the oldest points in the log. And this sometimes causes some non-contiguous sigments in the trip log.

If you think that might be what is happening, one thing you could do is to always delete the trip log after you have downloaded all the saved tracks. This would cause the nuvi to start over with a fresh trip log.

855 Track Download

Download using MapSource; always delete after downloading.

As I mentioned, tracks are actually there; sometimes disconnecting/reconnecting unit resolves issue.

Have you "cleared" the trip log on the device itself?
