Is there a way to clear the POI name from the top bar to be able to look at the routing?

I have gobs of POIs loaded into my 3590, including Starbucks locations for my wife (as a TourGuide with a 1000 ft range). At times, I need to see the full routing that is available by selecting the top bar on the display. When one is within range of a TourGuide POI, selecting the top bar brings up info on the POI. In cities, this can be a problem, as there are many (in this case, Starbucks) POIs and it is impossible to get the routing when needed.

Is there any setting that will either not display the POI, or allow it to be cleared, or get to the routing in another manner?

Thanks!!!

Set the Starbucks POIs with

Set the Starbucks POIs with a proximity alert using POI Loader in manual mode, rather than using Tourguide. I believe then that the POI will stop displaying in the banner bar so you can see the route.

The drawback is that the proximity alert is directional, along the road, whereas Tourguide is omni-directional.

Hooefully someone with your device knows more and can chime in.

Why do you need an alert?

If you load the Starbucks and other POIs with their associated icons, I expect that the 3590 will display those icons on your GPS. That's what happens with my NUVI2555LMT.

I always urge discretion, when it comes to using proximity alerts, etc, because they can become annoying. Do you stop at every Starbucks, or just when you want a coffee? If you only stop when you want a coffee, then go to the Custom Starbucks POI file when you're thirsty and locate the closest. Or look for the icon on your screen.

Not just Starbucks

I just used Starbucks as an example. I also have a number of other POIs with proximity alerts. It just seems that one is displaying on the top bar when I need to see the route - in a city, for example, when I want to see the next few turns to know what lane to be in.

alert overload

It sounds as if you have "Alert Overload" if you are having problems seeing the top bar. As GPSGeek stated, be very judicious about assigning alerts. If you load icons, the icons will display when you are in the area (at least on my 3597) even without an alert. If you feel you just have to know when the nearest McWendybucks is close, I suggest you set a very short distance, perhaps a 1 foot radius. It's enough to display the icon without overloading the top bar.

icon displays without prox alert

I do not believe you need a prox alert, in order for the icons to appear.

However, I don't know what units do this. My 350 does not, but my 2555vdoes. I'm guessing the newer units have this ability.
