As a recent arrival to Cincinnati from London, England I am passionate about my new home town. I have visited a number of really wonderful spots and am deeply enthralled with the cultural activities the Queen City offers.

To help visitors get around our great city I am in the process of compiling a visitor guide to Cincinnati. Work is in progress and I am hoping to post the .CSV file before the end of February 2008.

This is where you come in. Do you have any any "must see" places that someone vistiting Cincinnati would appreciate? If so, post a reply and I will see if it is already on the list. So far I have 75 locations on the list ... and it keeps growing.

Thank you for your participation!

Hmm ... curry

Being a displaced Brit, I have a taste for a good curry every now and then. I am glad to say that there are a number of good curry houses here in the greater Cincinnati area.

I have eaten at a number of them - some are rubbish - but most are truly the mutts nuts (or fantastic for the locals wink)

I am almost finished compiling a list of local curry houses in the greater Cincinnati area and was wondering if any POI Factory users have had a great curry recently. If you have, please let me know where so that (a) I can go and have a curry there myself, and (b) add the address to a Custom POI list of curry houses in the Cincinnati area I am in the process of compiling.

Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. OMG, the tought of a Chicken Vindaloo and garlic naan bread is making my mouth water!

Chili Houses

Anybody visiting Cincinnati should at least try Midwest chili. With spaghetti, cheese, and onions, it is probably different from the chili most will have experienced before. Not claiming it is gourmet cooking, just a piece of local flavor. I don't have a name, but there are shops all around the city (or at least there used to be).

cincinnati landmarks

did anyone ever post a cincinnati landmarks POI file? If not, i've started a google map for cincinnati landmarks that is open to the public for adding/editing. Not much on it right now, but I'll add more as time goes on. If you'd like to help, you can add things to it by visiting this link:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&ie=UTF8&ms...

When we get a good amount of pois on it, I can turn it into a .cvs

POIs Added

I added a few landmarks. Be happy to work with you on the project.

Some Sugestions....

Miss POI ....

I have been looking through the existing POI files and thinking about the Cincinnati Metro Project.

Maybe the project, http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4363 ,should include these additional existing poi files under the "POI Files" heading:

Cincinnati Attractions: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/14485

Cincinnati LaRosas Pizzerias: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/3828

Cincinnati, Ohio, Green Township Parks: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/3812

Hamilton County Parks (Cincinnati, Ohio) http://www.poi-factory.com/node/14235

Local Cincinnati Style Chili Restaurants in Cincinnati: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/13144

Skyline Chili: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/5847

Also under the heading "Communities in the area include:" "Under Construction" is indicated.

Perhaps a statement such as "Greater Cincinnati and the surrounding counties in the tri-state area, including Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana." could go there.

Thanks

Thanks you for the fire under the hiney, I guess I forgot the step that included checking the files we already have and linking them to the metro page.

I have made all those adjustments and now that page looks great. I really appreciate you stepping forward and helping me make that correction.

I have added a few points to your gmaps.

willing to help

I am new to gps... but I am willing to help with this collection for cincinnati. Is there like a tutorial on how to map these things out for you?

join Cincinnati Metro project

I'd love to join the project. What's required?

Addition in Northern KY

xfiend,

I've never added a poi to Google maps before but gave it a try. Check the Airport poi I added and if something is not correct or doesn't match the intent, let me know. I'll add some additional points especially in NKY after you get a chance to check my first one.

Is this project still active?

Maybe we could have a list of key business/office locations visitors are likely to encounter such as General Electric, Procter & Gamble, Fifth Third, University of Cincinnati to name a few.

Welcome to the site. I don't know anything about this thread but I'm sure someone will jump in soon that does know.
Be sure and look at the Blue Tab links above and the small links under the blue tab. You will learn a lot about this site.

Welcome and hope you enjoy.
