Nuvi 660 Newbie

I was one of the many that recently purchased the Costco deal on the 660. Just got it in the mail today. I went to put the disc into my computer and nothing happens. The Owner's Manual popped up...but no usable interface software. How do i interact with this thing on my computer if I don't have software? I went to the Garmin web site and downloaded Web updater and got the updates for the unit...but were is the software.

.

It doesn't come with any interface software. What exactly are you trying to do with it?

If you want to load Custom POIs, you need to download POI Loader.

as MM said, the only two

as MM said, the only two things that you need is the POI Uploader and the webupdater. All the map and OS software is already on the nuvi.

Thank you

Thank you
I thought it was some kind of software that comes with it for my computer. My Streetpilot i3 had a software that I could connect with Garmin and register my unit with them.

Can update without webupdater

I personally don't like installing any program on my computer I don't need. Since the GPS update file can be download and installed directly from the file, you don't really need the webupdater program.

You can miss things not using web updater

Not only does it do firmware, but checks for newer versions of vehicle files, voice files, and Bluetooth updates - found one yesterday with the 660 firmware update.

That's Correct

That's correct; but since I deleted all voices except the one I use and all vehicles except the one I use (to clean out unused 'junk' to make room for useful stuff), Webupdater is a 'version updater' for me (no Bluetooth on nuvi 350).
