Copy everything from 2460 to 3597?

So far...I love it!!! I have to play with it and learn where everything is, but wow it's a nice unit!

Is there an easy way to transfer saved locations from my 2460 to the 3597? The 2460 died, but I was able to copy everything from it to my computer, so it's all there. I'm not sure what to grab, and where I should place it on the 3597.

Thanks!

Sure.

Find the file Current.GPX from your 2460. It should be in the \GPX folder. Rename it to temp.gpx and copy temp.gpx to the \GPX folder of your 3597. Boot up the 3597 and all the favorites will be imported. View the saved locations to make sure they are there

Then reconnect your 3597 and delete the temp.gpx file.

Good for you. Mine continues to amaze me--and I went from a 2460 to 3597, too.

Craig...poor choice of words on my part! This one will not be introduced to the cement under any circumstances!!!

Now I'm going to follow alan's instructions...I'll report back.

That was easy, thanks alan! Now, how about different icons? This only seems to have some standard green icons, have you found any others?

Yeah.

The ugly icons are one of the few things I don't like about the 3597. As far as I know, there is not much you can do about them.

Incidentally, the one other thing I have found that I don't like is that they removed the "recalculating" announcement if you go off route. Unless you are looking at the screen, you can get off route and never know it.

Sacrifices

I guess we have to make some sacrifices, ho hum. Anything really neat you've found? How about routes?

3597

There are lots of special things on the 3597, and you will discover them as you get more familiar with it. But to get you started, see this: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/41428.

Did not realize we missed our turn for several miles. Too late to turn back and went on slower road for a long way. I was glad there was no reclacuting till this happened.

Congratulations! I love mine too. Be very cautious when handling, the housing is kinda slippery.

We're on our journey....

So far I'm loving my 3597. The lane changes are fantastic and clear, visually and audibly. We are having so much fun with this, I'm so glad I splurged smile

If anyone hears of a CraigW sighting...let me know...This beautiful garmin is not going to hit the ground grin

Hey! I have a windmill!

Hey! I have a windmill!

The 3597 is without a doubt the most pleasing GPS I've had--but then, I've never splurged on a top premium model before. If it weren't for the $220 refurb that we were directed to here at The Factory, I still wouldn't have one. Surprisingly to me, the best unexpected feature of this is the almost Googlish search function. A spoken Wake-up, Find Place, xxxxx so frequently finds exactly what I want so it's almost become a game with me to see if it can find my Where To on the first try without first selecting some category of built-in POI. I've also seen one birds-eye Junction View which was neat. The pseudo-topo DEM map is pleasant, too. (Wow, anyone with a GPS that has the DEM map should really see it in action on Hwy 64 along the South Rim of The Canyon!)

Sightings: I expect that I'm "up the hill" from you since you say you're in AZ. Be warned, we do have cement and rocks up here.

Your Windmill: it's time to load the POI Factory's speed and redlight camera files! How do you like the built-in school zones?
