I tried to update the English voices, but no joy. The dialog stated that there was about two minutes left for an hour, but there wasn't a thing downloaded. Contacted Garmin support. Told me to put the unit into MTP mode. That didn't work because my unit is not supported, but they had the model and serial number. They contacted me and apologized and said I had to delete all voices but the ones ending in English and then try again. I don't have storage issue as there is 2.4gb free space.
Anyone else having difficulty in updating the English voices? Or is it even necessary? I did update Jill separately.

2460?
Is this for your nuvi 2460? If so, try using WebUpdater rather than Garmin Express or myDashboard. Webupdater will offer voice updates for this model. If you're using WebUpdater already, try again tomorrow.

PS--Congrats on your windmill. You now have access to redlight and speed camera POI files.
to download anything from Garmin
These comments are for Windows 7 and 8 and probably also for Windows XP:
To download anything from Garmin, using WebUpdater, Garmin Express, or any other program, start by checking for Garmin Communicator, a plug-in for your web browser, and downloading it if needed. This web page examines it on your PC:
http://software.garmin.com/en-US/gcp.html
Next, a Garmin Communicator pop-up may be blocked in your browser. If so, click on "always trust content from Garmin"
This is from alandb:
If running Garmin Express and the download hangs as you described, look at the icon for the nuvi, the "device" in Garmin Express. If it has a question mark over it, the device is not being recognized by Garmin Express. Delete the device in Garmin Express and restart the computer. Start Garmin Express and re-detect the nuvi. The question mark will be gone and the download will complete.
If, after all this, the voices will not download, we know that there is a problem with the English voices others have discussed.

English Voice now 943mb
The English voice update is not found on myDashboard or WebUpdater, but it does in GE - Device - Language Files. The information leads one to believe that this is an update for the English Voices. Question is ... Which ones?
It appears to me that there is an oops here. Doesn't make sense to me that this update is only available through GE.
Any thoughts here?

Hmm, I had considered the possibility that something you said was wrong...then I tested it. Oops.
OK, I started with my nuvi 2460 that has the latest English language voices through WebUpdater. Besides the non-TTS American and British English files, I had the following TTS voices:
Jill, 3.40, 6/21/13
Jack, 2.20, 12/13/13
Karen, 2.20, 6/13/13
Lee, 1.90, 8/11/09
Emily, 2.50, 6/18/13
Daniel, 2.20, 6/18/13
Sangeeta, 1.00, 3/18/00

Running WebUpdater showed no updates ( as you stated!)
Going to Garmin Express, I was shocked to see your 943MB English language update available. I gave it a go and installed it--and as you found, it's 943MB with no option for what's being installed.
Aha, comparing the post GE 943MB update to the pre-update, here are my results:
The number of TTS ("Text to Speech" or "Speaks Street Names") voices remain at seven--and the version numbers have not changed from the above mentioned versions.
I did find that four new English language non-TTS voices were added (and being non-TTS, I can't imagine ever wanting to use them):
American English Michelle: 2.00
Australian English Matilda: 1.00
British English James: 2.10
British English Kate: 2.10
It's late so maybe I'll revise my thoughts later, but to me, it seems that a vast majority of the 943MB of updates (filesize-wise) that Garmin Express thought my 2460 needed were the TTS voices I already had in my nuvi 2460 and each was the latest version, so much of the 943MB download and installation was just Garmin Express overwriting the identical TTS voice files (7 of them) that already existed on my 2460.
My conclusion: Assuming you have the latest version of the seven English language TTS voices on your 2460, dferron, using Garmin Express to download and install the 943MB of voice updates will gain you at most, four new non-TTS voices, and if you're like me, you'll never want to use the new non-TTS voices.
Summary: I agree "that there is an oops here" but the oops may be Garmin Express wanting to reinstall already-updated voices more than offering voices only available through GE.
PS--since I expect alandb or charlesd45 to correct me, I will confess that I accepted dferron's statement that myDashboard won't offer the new non-TTS voice updates and therefore went straight from WebUpdater to GE. It may well be that myDashboard will offer these (in my opinion, unneeded) non-TTS voices.
Thanks, dferron, you've added to my knowledge today and caused me to revise my Voice Version thread.
Voices
Looking at Dashboard the following are offered.
Voice, Australian English, Lee (TTS3)* (notes)
NewVoice, Australian English, Matilda (VCT)
NewVoice, Australian English-Karen (TTS3)* (notes)
Voice, British English (notes)
NewVoice, British English-James (VCT)
NewVoice, British English-Kate (VCT)
NewVoice, British-English, Daniel (TTS3)* (notes)
NewVoice, British-English, Serena (TTS3)* (notes)
Have option to select only the voices I want for download.System Updates another story. They install automatically.Been down that road before.I delete things not needed on GPS.System update puts it all back.
I have American Jack and Samantha(TTS3) plus Michelle installed.
Seeing these updates not on WebUpdater tells me it is on the way out.Even though most members prefer it because of the options to only download what you want or need.
Charlie. Nuvi 265 WT and Nuvi 2597 LMT. MapFactor Navigator - Offline Maps & GPS.
You beat me to it

Yes, indeed, myGarmin does offer all voice updates, and as you say, its advantage over using Garmin Express is that with myGarmin, you can pick and choose rather than be offered the immense 943MB all-English download.
dferron, with your 2460 attached to your computer, log into myGarmin, go to myDashboard, go to Software Updates, go to Optional Updates, go to Voices, then pick and choose the voices you want to install.
dferron, just to be clear, charlesd45's list of voices is for his GPS. Your 2460 will be offered a different list (no TTS3 voices).
Consistency? Where is it?
I know that my 2460 isn't TTS3 compatible. Was just trying to sort out the inconsistencies in the update lists.
It seems to me that the GE should show the updates in the Update tab and not in Device. Then in the Extras tab you will find the Yeti, Dave, etc. Then English Michelle shows in myGarmin, but not in WebUpdater or GE.
This really makes for a mess for new Garmin users. Sounds to me like the Garmin cubicles don't talk to each other. Kinda like the old right-hand left-hand thing.
