Import Garmin PoI(s) into Toyota (Sienna)

Hi:

My father just bought a 2014 Toyota Sienna with Toyota factory nav installed.

Is there a known way to export the Garmin PoIs from his Nuvi and import them into the Toyota?

thanks

Unless something has changed recently, the automotive built-in units are closed systems... Can't add custom POIs... Even updating maps or firmware is going to involve the dealer...

amazing!!!

It's amazing. You can spend $1 or 2K for an in car nav and end up with less functionality, than a $100 Garmin or TomTom. You don't even get lifetime maps.

An awful lot of moneyvjust for the lsrger screen that the in dash has.

Their lawyers are involved so they don't want to be sued for providing bad information or having the possibility of introducing something that will compromise any systems the GPS/Entertainment/Info center may be connected with.

I should add...I have the

I should add...I have the Uconnect 8.4N (Garmin) system in my 2014 Dodge Dart. Almost full Garmin functionality on the Chrysler units (not just the Dart) to include importing PoIs from other Garmin units via thumb drive. I was hoping the Toyota might have something similar even though it's not a Garmin unit.

The only unusual piece about the Chrysler-Garmin units is the traffic feed comes from Sirius XM not NAVTEQ. So...in order to get continued traffic input, you need to keep the SiriusXM subscription.

So far, the Chrysler unit works really well.

Both Honda and Hyundai allow custom POIs.

For Hyundai you can download them via the web. For Honda, it's thru a memory stick, I think.

I could not

Have said bettere my self Gpsgeek, the only good side is if they stop working just punch a hole on the screen and fill it with candy for the kids

True

The Chrysler Garmin works very well. Certainly overpriced compared to a portable unit but still very effective.

How?

Please post how you imported POI's into your built-in Uconnect 8.4N. Thank you.

You can import custom POIs into a Honda

Toyota doesn't offer it, but Honda does. The newer Odysseys and Accords (possibly other models) allow you to import custom POIs from a thumb drive. Pretty slick!

HONDA CRV POI

Really?? I just got a 2015 CRV and am trying to find away to get all my lighthouse poi on it.
