Magellan Maestro 4040 touchscreen calibration error

I have an old Maestro 4040, the one with the AAA data.
It works great, but the touchscreen calibration is way off.
There is a touchscreen calibration procedure in options.
I did that, and it went around a couple times and finally completed, but the calibration is still way off in a vertical direction.
I did the procedure again, tapping the targets in the corners of the screen, but it never completed this time.
Does anyone know if there is a way to factory reset that unit, or a secret way to reset the calibration?
I sent a support request to Magellan, but since Magellan isn't really Magellan anymore I doubt they know. As you might know their intellectual property was bought by Chinese firm Mitac Digital some time ago.

Re-boot the device. Turn the GPS on, wait a few seconds then press the power button & hold to the count of ten then release. Wait a few seconds then press the power button again to turn it back on. You'll see a progress bar across the bottom of the screen. Once finished, recalibrate the touch screen.
No difference.

I had rebooted a number of times.
I tried that, the recalibrate never completed. I think this unit is broken. No big deal.
