poi's = where there once, but no longer

i'VE SEEN gps's where all restaurants, banks, etc show up as icons. It happened once on my Nuvi 1490L Mt... but then it went away within a few minutes....
How do I get these buggers on my gps? According to this website, you have to pick and choose.... not what i'M LOOking for. And I'm too old to try and figure this out.
Any help would be appreciated.

if you saw them ones they are still there.
Turn your GPS On,wait till the map load,then click on VIEW map and Touch a few times THE + that should be on the TOP RIGHT CORNER. That is to ZOOM IN, if your GPS is set up too FAR away it will not show those icon of store and bank ect. Zoom in with the +(plus sign) till you see them..
If you Zoom to much Hit the - (minus left corner) of the screen.
Keep in mind The Gps will display all store in the 300 feet radius. of your location.
What you are looking for are
the poi's built in to the map of the gps. Zoom in to find them.
What we have here are poi files that are far more accurate and up to date than the ones built in to the map.
