Best Garmin

Can anybody tell me what is the best Garmin out there, I'm looking to replace my old one?

Best Garmin

For marine, aviation, automobile, bicycling, or something else?

I hope you are not looking

I hope you are not looking for a consensus of opinion, because I doubt you will get it.

Some people use the GPS as a navigation device only, i.e. going from one point to another.

Some want all the bells-and-whistles latest and greatest features, etc.

Some want the device to be portable and with a long battery life.

Since we don't really understand what you are planning on using it for it is really impossible to suggest the "best Garmin".

Personally I like the nuvi low end series with life time map updates, for simple navigation. Works great and is low cost.

'Best' garmin

Highly subjective depending on how used. After owning various sized units, I really like the 7" 2797. Would be hard to go back to smaller siZe. It's 'real directions, traffic application, and general nav do it for me. I don't really care about lifetime maps or complex routing. But you do need a dash that will accommodate its large footprint if you use a beanbag mount. My wish list would include a dash cam that could integrate with the nuvi, like the 3592 which is, currently sold in Asia. I will look at the new dash cam20 which is available early feb but it looks like a stand alone unit.

Why not begin your quest on Garmin's web site. Then you can ask intelligent questions about specific models.

THEREIN lies the definition

THEREIN lies the definition of "BEST".
It is interesting how so many ppl ask for the BEST something-or-other without any qualifications.
I suppose one could say that "my Garmin is the best cause it works".

3590

I am assuming you are wanting a GPS for automobile navigation. About 3 months ago I went to Costco and bought the 3590. I like it. I think it is easier t use than my 765t I was using. I like the fact that I can enter a address, city, and State, rather than the old way, State, city, and address. BTW, Voice Command works real well. It has a green line to mark roads previouly traveled. It can be reset through "APS"/"Where I Have Been". The best feature of all....YOU DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO "RECALCULATING". Now ti just quietly sends you to another route. It is so much easier to use, and more intuitive than some of the older Garmin units. Oh, and whatever you get, make sure it has lifetime maps!!!!

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Bells and Whistles

If you want bells and whistles, then the nüvi® 2798LMT with Backup Camera has just about the most whistles. It retails for #399.99 but it does have bells and whistles.

Garmin Nuvi 2450

the most expensive one, according to Garmin

If you ask Garmin, the most expensive one is the best. But, you will also find people in this forum that the lowest priced one is the best.

Best?

Thats like asking who has the best hamburger????

+! Exactly. I have the Costco with HD traffic, and it is amazing. Besides the back up camera mentioned above, there is nothing else for a unit to do.

I purchased the Garmin

I purchased the Garmin 3490LMT on Black Friday for $129.99. It's not the biggest screen they offer and it doesn't have the back up camera but it has a lot for not that much money. Depends on your budget.
