Tutorial for Customizing Built-In Symbols

We have a new tutorial created by shershingpois that describes how to change the built-in POI icons on a Garmin.

He used turboccc's SymbolExtractor and kunix's GarminCure3 to replace some of the less interesting icons with his own graphics.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thanks, but I'll pass.

A little too risky and more involved than I care to try with my nuvi's.

Why? I hate my icons on the 3590 compared to my 3790. I have an image of all my units, gonna give this a shot when I have some time. Doesn't look difficult at all, but my gut feeling tells me its not going to work.

Nuvi 2797

Symbol Extractor only extracted some boot loader icons on the Nuvi 2797 GCD file. Says it cant parse the rest of the file. sad

I had used this process a couple of years ago on my 765T and it worked OK.

Does this last after a factory firmware update?

Do you have to do it again?

Since 2013.30 the size has not changed on the gupdate.gcd files. We've had 4 updates since then.
