Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – December 2013

We sold our home of 30 years, but had to wait three weeks to move into the new house. Our Garmin served us well as long as we entered the correct name for our destination.
Three weeks in an 11' Lance pickup camper--two adults, a dog, a cat and a litter box.

I had to give a lift to work to a guy I work with. Used my 2595 to find his house. I guess I've been there enough as I knew the turns without using the gps... He needs to get a new car...

Hit the warehouse store for supplies for Christmas week - nothing major, but enough to enjoy a quiet and comfortable week off. Waited until late Saturday night to venture out and there were not crowds at all - worked out well.

I find Garmin has a little trouble with multiple & rapid turns and 5 corner intersections.

But all went well in the end ....recalculations saved the day.

Garmin routea were terrible and traffic was outdated. Used google maps instead. Unless Garmin gets better control on routing, they will be replaced by beter aystems!

Been making a lot of "local" trips the past few months -- out to around 450 miles or so. GPS doesn't really get much of a workout any more.

I found my way to a local botanical garden to photograph their holiday light display.

A 1200 mile journey to try out the latest map update for my Nuvi 50LM. Good weather forecast too.

2 mile round trip to Fresh Market for Christmas dinner steaks!!

Nice, quiet Christmas this year, with a short trip to a family gathering and back. All good.

Went up to gold country for the day to visit relatives.

Got back from a crazy zig zag trip to OH, IN, OH, IN, OH, IN, OH then back home. Lots of family to see with multiple trips to the two mothers because of moves and Christmas with extra back tracking trips to other family members. A trip that should have been around a 1000 miles turned into about 1500. At least the trusty 2460 Veronica kept me on time. All place we knew how to get to but it is reassuring to know if we are on schedule.
