Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – October 2013

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

St. Louis

Late Friday afternoon we were on I-270, looping around St Louis. My 1450 Traffic was accurate. The display would change from yellow to red, depending if we were slow and go, or stop and go. I ignored suggestions for alternate routing.

Still here. Looks like it'll be the weekend until Wednesday. Now if can only get out of work.....

Omaha

Took a weekend trip to Omaha last weekend. I was just thinking that all the POIs I've taken advantage of and the customization knowledge I learned for my Nuvi(and fun looks I get from family when they see those changes in action) since I discovered this site has really added to the fun of trips like that.

college football

Ann Arbor this saturday for a fantastic early fall football game.

Oktoberfest

Unfortunately, the built in POI has the wrong address and was about 2 miles off.

Back Roads

There was a backup ahead several miles long along I57, my Nuvi announced it was changing my route (without my permission). First time it's done that. Usually you have to hit the re-route icon. I'm glad I followed her instructions, it was a smooth trip down to central Illinois along back roads.

Just like planned...

around town to the antique shops. Made finding the places very easy.

Combo Trip

Took a combo Amtrak and car trip to Alexandria, Va area .
Used my trusty companion "jack" on both the train and in the rental car.
Gov't "shutdown" put a few roadblocks in the way of our touring but did manage
to "walk" Arlington National Cemetery (sobering experience), take a Potomac Riverboat cruise to view the monuments but couldn't land at Georgetown. Visited Mount Vernon and it's reopened Grist Mill & Distillery (neat) and tour the National Masonic site .

With "Jack" mounted on the window of the train got lots of questions & comments from other passengers !
Fun Trip
