POI Factory Red Light Camera Alerts

I downloaded a trial of Cyclops a few weeks ago just to see how it works with the Red Light Camera alerts. It warns with a beep, and a red bar with the impending distance to the camera. I was wondering what type of alert the POI file offers. Is it similar???

The factory's files

The factory's files are updated weekly (on Wed.) and every location is verified as to the location through the diligence of our Sheriff, err moderator, Angela.

Here's a quote from the Camera page that can help.

Quote:

Nearly all of POI Factory's content is free, but enforcement camera locations are reserved for users who are currently helping support the web site.

The Factory also has different sounds that can accompany a camera location and display one of several icons, each downloaded separately.

You can provide a payment to the factory for immediate access to the files or, you can become an active user to where they can be downloaded at no cost.

Audilbe alert stopped working

I recently switched to a Garmin 3597LMTHD and updated to the POI camera alert files, which have been excellent. I have the unit set to "continuous" audible alert, which is great in heavy traffic.

Yesterday, out of the blue, I suddenly stopped getting any audible sound alert, even though the unit is set to continuous. I still get the visual on screen alerts, but no sound. As I am about to go on a long driving trip, this is a major concern.

Any ideas on how to get the audible back would be appreciated as Garmin has simply blamed the problem on the POI Factory files.........

Do you hear any sounds?

Do you hear any sounds at all?

Proximity alert stopped working

The normal Garmin voice audio is fine and gives clear directions, the proximity audio alert is on and set to continuous for the custom POI files, and the "gong" proximity alert for the traffic cameras used to work as well, but just the "gong" for the red light cameras has stopped. You still get a visual warning, but no sound. Everything else works perfectly.

I think the POI file is excellent, it's free. But there are lots of false alerts. It's impossible imho to be traveling say in LA, SF, Chicago, and to report all the locations, that would be up to the people who live in that area, and commute every day. my .02.

The Garmin file is not updated weekly, and it too has had false alerts, but not many. I did not resubscribe as it went up to $30 I believe, c'mon now!
