Changing the Map Perspective on a 2597

It used to be on my old 855, that when I clicked anywhere on the driving map, a new map would pop up tin 2D view so I could search for a nearby street if I so desired or zoom out and get a larger aerial view.

When I click on the new one, all it does is get rid of the text, so if I want to see where something is behind me (say, when I don't have a route set) it's impossible to do so!

Anyone have any ideas how I can use the 2597 as a "paper map" when I so choose?

Any ideas?

I think you should be able to accomplish that by setting your GPS to use the SIMULATOR function instead of the GPS searching for satellites.

What happens if you drag your figure across the screen? I don't have your model but on the 3597 dragging will move the map in any direction you want, with +/- buttons for zooming and a back arrow to take you back to the orginal view.
