2460 Takes Forever to Calculate a long route

I recently programmed my 2460 for a trip. This trip was about 3 hours travel time (Kingston Ontario). When I selected the route from my favourites list it literally took 2 hours to calculate it. I have the latest maps and software. I have erased my trip logs (blue tracking line), but it still took way too long. I just started heading in the direction I needed to go. I was stationary for about 10 min first and got frustrated and started on my way. Finally as I was approching my destination did it calculate the route sad .

2450

I have a 2450 and it did that to me. I turned off all the extra trip eco and millage and stuff like that.
I noticed when I downloaded it to my SD card it also put an extra copy on my unit so I had two and they were both trying to calculate.

I have found that mine takes a little bit now to calculate but only about 3 or 4 minutes if that much after I turned all trip stuff off.

What I do now is make my route at home then select the trip and let it calculates. Once it is calculated it doesn't have to again. Then when I am ready to go I select my trip and it is all ready to go.

3490 Takes Awhile to Calculate

My LMT 3490 takes about 5 to 7 minutes to calculate a route (with traffic service turned on), but it certainly doesn't take 2 hours.

Some Suggestions

Is it possible when you selected the favorite the 2460 did not yet have a satellite fix?

You can try an experiment using the following steps:
1- Click on Tools> Settings> Navigation> Automobile
Now click on nuRoute, in calculation mode, check faster time.
2- Next select Avoidances and uncheck "Traffic"
3- Now scroll down to Traffic Trends- check disabled and Save.
4- Next scroll down to myTrends check disable and save.
5- Now take the Nuvi outside and plug into your car making sure you have a good satellite connection.
Once satellites are found select the favorite that caused you that long calculation.

Let us know if the calculation worked quickly now.

Thanxs

As I posted previousely. I was sitting in the car and had the nuvi on for 10 minutes before I selected the saved route. I had waited for 10 minutes first, then selected it. After another 5 minutes while the GF was in a store picking up a few things I cancelled the selection and then re-selected it. sad

Do the above turn offs then try your calculating again.
I can calculate my trip from trip planner without a sat. connection.

Just to be correct, are you talking about a route you just made or one saved in trip-planner?

I'm having similar issues

I'm having similar issues with my brand new 3597. I have an active forum discussion active plus I put in a call to Garmin.

Just spoke to Garmin and they told me to turn off traffic trends

My 2460 ...

My 2460 calculates some fairly complex routes fairly quickly as long as I create the route on the 2460, that is, if I specify a destination, add some intermediate WPs, etc. and have the GPS calculate the route.

With previous GPSs, I was in the habit of creating a route in BaseCamp or Mapsource and downloading it to the GPS. If I do that with the 2460, it takes forever to actually add the route to my saved routes. I assume its recalculating during that time but can't tell for sure.

Turning off traffic trends and all the other unneeded stuff worked for me, try it.

Creating Long Routes

After creating Routes with multiple way points in Base Camp, it does take considerable time to load it into my 2460 LMT.

It does work but it can take just less than one hour.

I am working on BaseCamp Trip Planner. Only have point to point and no way points yet.
When I get a large one I will upload it to Jill and see how long it takes her to calculate.
