(SOLVED) - Install Full North American Map

I used to install one of these partial maps because the internal storage would not hold the full map, but I got an SD Card now with plenty of space. But both Garmin Express and Map Updater are still trying to get me to install the partial map.

How do I get the full map again (on the SD Card)

EDIT: I remember Garmin Lifetime updater had a bug that did the opposite. But it will not work anymore (just tried to install it).

One

One easy way is to use Garmin MapUpdater to install the full map update to your Computer Only. That's an option in View Options when you run the MapUpdater.

Once the download is complete, use Garmin's MapInstall software to install the new update maps to the SD card.

1450LMT

Are you trying to update the map on your 1450LMT or a different nuvi? There are differences between models on updates.

According to this faq from Garmin:

https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

the 1400 series will be given the option to update to SD card if the full map update that you are entitled to receive will not fit in internal nuvi storage. My nuvi 750 (also given the direct install-to-SD option) identified that I needed to install to SD and gave me the option of choosing the SD card for all of North America for the new and past map updates or to install internally with a smaller map. My nuvi 855 is not among the models given the direct-to-SD option. The nuvi 1450 is entitled to receive the US and Canada when doing a City Nav NA map update.

From what I've seen, I'll suggest trying again to reinstall the new map with GarminMapUpdater even though I've heard that Garmin Express will make the same offer to you. Look carefully at the window where it tells you to choose your update because the full map won't fit internally--you should see choices to choose a smaller map or to choose a SD card installation.

Plz report back with your findings.

This will lose Junction Views, though.
