guy im facing an issue with my newly bought 34990. after product registration it said unloack maps, after I went to my maps and downloaded again it said "cannot authenticate maps" . pls assist

It appears you may be missing the gmapprom.unl file on your Nuvi. This file unlocks the map.
I don't know what program you used to download the map, however currently the best method to update your maps is to use the Garmin "Mapupdater" program.
Below is link to downlaod and install the program.
Let us know if it worked for you.

A small correction...
Missing gmapprom.unl: Cannot Unlock Maps
Missing gmapprom.gma: Cannot Authenticate Maps
Either way, retry the download suggested by muell9k. This *should* reauthenticate your maps and allow the unit to work correctly. If doing this does not correct your issue, contact Garmin support *by phone* while connected to the internet. They will be able to remotely access your nuvi to restore the missing/erroneous files.

Thanks for the correction, something I over looked from MASOODKHAN's post.
What threw me off course was the statement of "after product registration it said unloack maps". But he also stated " downloaded again it said "cannot authenticate maps". More than likely it was the gmapprom.gma either missing or corrupt since on boot it would have indicated "can't unlock map" had the gmapprom.unl been missing.
Hopefully a fresh download will correct using Mapupdater.
