Chrysler Uconnect 8.4N

I have a Chrysler 300 with a Chrysler Uconnect 8.4N. I cannot get it to take any POI or Extras. Is there any instruction that would me how to work this unit? I have had to Garmin's before and have not had any problems installing POIs. It keeps say No Supported Files. Anybody out there want to tell me what dumb thing I am missing? I am installing the POIs on to a SD card then taking it out to the car as soon as I install the card I get that No Supported Files.

I may have found it.

Custom POIs (Points of Interest)
NOTE: Custom POI files must be named “poi.gpi”. and
located on the USB storage device in a folder named
‘POI’ within a folder named “Garmin” (Garmin/POI/).
You can manually load custom points of interest (POI)
databases, available from various companies on the Internet.
Some custom POI databases contain alert information
for points such as safety cameras and school
zones. The navigation system can notify you when you
approach one of these points. You are responsible for
ensuring that your use of safety camera information is
lawful in your area.

Chrysler Uconnect 8.4N

I tried all this and its still not working!

Case Sensitive?

The member pippo2 on this site

http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/2878-out-of-date-map-...

gives instructions on how to do it but points out the folders and file name are case sensitive and to use a memory stick not a sd card or disk.

The above link Is one that I put up, but its old, and the new link is this one: http://tinyurl.com/kw5tsug

The reason for the new link is that much of the confusion with getting Points of Interest to work properly in the Uconnect systems in Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles is due to a bug in the 2011 and 2012 model year radio software.

Garmin has confirmed the problem (works on their test bench but not in the car) and sent me revised software which I pass on to you (with their permission).

removing all

Yes, via the screens in the Extras section of the menus.

Its not illegal anywhere

There is no state that forbids you to know where safety cameras (speed or redlight) are located. Such a law would be unconstitutional.

Uconnect 8.4 And POI are working in my 300c

I used the same POI files that I have for my Garmin 3590LMT.
However : I have kept the name, Upper case,Lower case and spelling of the folders on the USB Thumb as: Garmin\POI and the generated file as POI.gpi--
I have used Poiloader the same way I used it for the 3590 meaning with WAV sound files and the SOX program.
I get a voice alert and a written alert same as the 3590LMT
Exact Spelling and Lower/Upper case for the words of the folders and generated file appear to be VERY IMPORTANT.

Really?

Hmmm, that's not what you posted in another thread.

But again the year of your vehicle makes a big difference. 2012 & 2011 had problems. Supposedly fixed in 2013, may not have been a problem in prior to 2011.

uconnect 430N

I have a Jeep Wrangler with the uconnect 430N.

I have found that this works for mine, not sure how different a 8.4N might be but it may be worth a look:

Not illegal

I agree about being unconstitutional, but since when has that stopped them from doing what they want and fighting it later?

8.4N Nav Manual

hope this helps.. I haven't tried it yet. trying to figure out how to find a .gpi file for Yellowstone.

You need to convert the file to gpi

Try the file here. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since 2009 but what really changes?
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/24963

You can use poi loader to convert it to a gpi file.
