Garmin POI Files

I ran all my POI Files thru the POI Loader and when I checked my Customized POI's on my Garmin nuvi 2555LMT Device, only about half of them were listed BUT when I checked my SD Card (I store my POI Files there) all Poi Files were listed on the SD card BUT I can';r see them on my Device, Kan anyone Shed Sum Lite, Thanx..(and to think, I went to College for 4 Years, just to Learn how to Spell)

Don't show

I had a problem with some POI's I created. I recreated the file from my spreadsheet and it worked that time. I suggest recreating the files or downloading them again.

Spell checker fixes all the spelling errors.

Delete and reload

Actually, when you have the unit attached to the computer, I would suggest you rename all the .gpi giles (usually in the \Garmin\POI folder) on both the GPS and the SD Card by adding another character to the extension (ie. I change mine from .gpi to .gpix). This effectively "deletes" those POIs but makes it easy to restore them by changing the extension back to .gpi.

Then reload the custom POI files.

Note that POI Loader can put them either on the SD Card or on the GPS (but not both at one time). I assume you pointed POI Loader to your GPS.

Usually POI Loader will list your unit first and then, if you click the down arrow to the right of your unit name, will show other removable drives (it shows the SD card in my unit as well as an SD card in one of my printers on which I have put a "Garmin" folder).

Note also that POI Loader earlier gave you a choice of putting the output file either on your computer or on your "device" where "device" could be the unit or multiple SD cards. I make note of this because one of the reasons I have the SD card in the printer with a \Garmin folder on it is so I can test loading POIs without having my unit hooked to the computer.

I suspect that the reload will work Ok. Make note of the number of POIs that were loaded and see if that was the sum of all the POI files you expected to load.

Let us know, please.

Speed camera and Red light camera

Ricently I install the new version of the Speed camera and the Red light camera. Also my Sister from NY she download and install the same. Next day my sister call me and updating those new camera it cause on her Gps to loose the voice warning on her Gps when she was near a camera. I also drive to a near speed camera by my home and I can confirm that both of my gps instead of getting a voice warning like my sister I was getting only the Buzzer warning.Did anyone lost the soud warning after update to the new version? With some help from the sysop of this site I was able to restore everything with voice comand too.On both of My GPS that I have a C550 and my 1450 I have Jill speaking when I install the camera allert on both Gps using the same file and sound. I notice that my C550 I get Jill voice on my 1450 I get a male voice.I know that On my 1450 I have a speed trap warning and the voice is a male voice

Does anyone know how to change the warning of the speed camera and the red light camera on my 1450 so they both have the voice of Jill.

keep in mind that before I Install the warming voice of the Speed and red light camera I tested and the sound was a female voice.

Thanks

Voice alert

I think that if you want a voice alert for cameras, you must have a .wav file namned exactly the same "character string" as the redlight-cameras file to the left of the extension and another named exactly the same "character string" as the speed-cameras file to the left of the extension and both .wav files must be in the same folder as the camera files.

I just use the "dongs", myself

Count 'em

You are aware, I assume, that regardless of how many POI's are in a file, your Garmin device will show only the first 50, right?

Count 'em

My Garmin nuvi 2555LMT Device Shows 90 and I have over 200 Poi's

what does

Ran all my POIs throuh POI Loader mean?

There are many ways to run file through POI loader, but you give no clue as to how you did this. Are all the poi in one folder? is there a separte folder for each file? Do you have a top level folder and then subfolders? do any of your subfolders have subfolders? Right now, with the little bit of information you have provided, the best I can surmise is Operator Error.

Thanks for the post. Very useful

What Does

Good question Box Car. I haven't submitted any POI's in the past BUT I intend to Start. I'm not real sure that I (or you) know what all that gibberish is that you have Posted above but not to worry. I woulod Suggest that IF you want to Help an Individual you learn how to, in Lieu of seeming to Slam someone for making Errors. I'm fairly sure that not everyone that uses this POI Place is as Highly Intelligent as you are (or think you are) I have some Lucky Lotto Places and I forwarded them in a CSV File. If I'm wrong then I stand to be Corrected and will Welcome any Suggestions, Tips, etc. Welcome to POI factory Box Car..

Gee, I'm sorry you think I was slamming you. But for the record, I do know what "all that gibberish is" in my post.

Since you state you would like to get started in creating and posting POI files, you will find Extra_POI_Editor a useful tool. Here's a FAQ that will help you get started - Extra POI Editor | How do I Configure Extra POI Editor? http://www.poi-factory.com/node/33782

Operator Error?

Looked like a slam to me!
EDIT: I'm not slamming the poster, just the post!

Yea, how dare Boxcar try to help and mention all of the things that are important to consider when loading POI files with POI loader? It is much better to just call all of those details "gibberish". Besides, they would all be important only if the original poster were having some sort of problem and all of the files that he thinks he is loading were not showing up properly. Oh, wait ....

Operator Error

I did not take "operator error" as a "slam" when I read Box Car's post. Indeed, when I read the post (reproduced below)

I did not know what to make of it. (Both the question itself and the attempt at humor).

I made some suggestions that amounted to a fresh start of .gpi files on the unit and the SD card (hoping that would eliminate confusion perhaps caused by earlier actions) so donz1943 would have to look at the folder structure and determine what got processed and what did not.

Operator Error is what I often attribute my own mistakes to.

Some of the time - in situations like this - we get feedback from the poster letting us know what he/she found that they had done or failed to that that caused the original problem.
