After loading POI's on my PC I get this error message
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action." I do not have the Garmin 2460 plugged in ( will be here tomorrow ) but do have a Garmin POI loader installed. Thanks for the help.
What exactly do you mean when you say "loading POI into PC"?
What exactly are you trying to do?
If you try to OPEN a GPX file and you don't have a program installed on your computer that can read GPX files, then you might get a message such as the one in your quotation marks.
However, it is not necessary to OPEN the Custom POI files on your computer. Simply use the Garmin POI Loader software to load the Custom POIs to your GPS unit (once you get it).
I was trying to load a file ( walmart and sam's club gas station's ) onto my PC for use on the 2460 tomorrow. I think I understand. load poi file, plug in gps then open Garmin POI loader, find the file and transfer to gps sounds simply. ha ha Thanks
Bobbo no program from your Pc will be able to read the Gpx files.Just use the POI loader, select the folder that you select to save the GPX on your Pc and poi loader will be able to detect and install the file on your GPS.
Yes. The steps are:
Download the files to your computer.
Place the files in a folder (or folders) on your computer.
Use POI Loader to load them to the GPS unit selecting the folder into which you placed them as the source of the data.
If you wish to OPEN the files on your computer, look into getting Extra POI Editor (EPE), or BaseCamp, or MapSource, and EasyGPS.
