Anybody tried nuvi 24xx (GCD File) software ver 7.70?

Changes made from version 7.60 to 7.70:

Improved compliance with California Energy Commission power requirements.

Anybody updated to this version? Doesn't seem worth applying.

Is this for the 24xx or the 24x5/25x5 series?

My 2460 does not see this update through Webupdater or Garmin Express. Could you be referring to the update for the 24x5 and 25x5 series instead?

CraigW is correct, should be the 24X5.
The 2460's latest software is 3.20, NOT 7.70

You're right

You guys are right. I've got a 2495. I've seen references to 24xx series herein and forgot there was a difference between 24x0 and 24x5.

I'm not finding anything about the latest firmware so think I'll just skip it.

V7.70 issues

Traded experiences with V7.70 with other posters on a different forum. Please chime in with your own comments. I would like to find out why V7.50 - V7.7 are not behaving well on my GTM 60 and 2495LMT combination.

Pasting my own post:

----------------------
I installed V7.7 on my 2495LMT with GTM60.

Navigation works without a hitch. However, I have been having various degrees of issues with the GTM60 with firmware versions 7.50, 7.60 and 7.70. The killer issue is that with the recent firmware versions, the 2495 shows only the severe traffic conditions (red). This makes the traffic information not very helpful, since I rarely encounter "red" conditions... Just about all the traffic information on local streets are missing. That led me to think, wrongly I believe, that the newer firmware identifies GTM60 as a non-HD receiver.

I reverted back to V7.20 and earlier firmware and the GTM60 provides traffic information (yellow and red) on both highways and major local streets. The highway conditions are pretty accurate. The discrepancy is usually better than 1 mile. The congestion information for local streets however are hit and miss, mostly miss. I guess Navteq here in the US needs to improve the way they gather and disseminate the traffic information.
---------------------------
...
I really like the 2495+GTM60 combination. Much improved user interface and traffic information compared to the 2360/GTM35 combination that I also have.

I guess I will stick with V7.20 for now until I found out what I could do differently to make the newer firmware behave similarly (hopefully with improvements) to the older ones on my 2495.
....

TrafficProvider.xml

When you were in WebUpdater did you check if there was an update to Traffic Provider?

There is a bug with my 2460 regarding the Traffic Provider file. Every time I use Webupdater it says there is a newer version of the file available, in reality it does have the latest file on the Nuvi but WebUudater is not recognizing it for some reason.

No traffic provider update available

I checked. No update to the traffic provider are shown. Only some update about traffic text, which I updated, no effect though.

The 2495/GTM 60 scans and finds the FM stations and the traffic signals without difficulty and correctly identifies that the providers are Navteq and Navteq HD. When I connect the GTM 35 to the 2495, only Navteq shows, as it should.

By the way, the GTM 35 behaves in the same deficient manner as the GTM 60 when I use firmware versions higher than V7.20

You're not alone

I feel better. I get the same result with WebUpdater and Garmin Express with my 2460.

How do you revert?

I upgraded to 7.70 for my 2495 - I don't use my Garmin all that much - but thought the menus looked different - maybe not. Curious who you revert to an earlier version of firmware - for one where do you get the earlier version then how is it installed - thanks.

Traffic menu

The traffic menu does change (GTM60) with firmware V7.50 onward. It shows an extra top line, "Digital Traffic" if it is tuned to an HD station. I did not notice much of a change in the menu when I connect the 2495 to a GTM35.
